I am looking for an inexpensive Toughbook shell that has been gutted (or whose guts I am not paying for and will remove).
The hinges, latch, and handle need to be intact and it needs to be essentially sealed (so the doors and gaskets should all -- or mostly -- be present).
It will be the uber-cool carrying case for a Samsung NB30 Netbook and a bunch of accessories.
The NB30 is 11.4" x 7.4" x 1.05" so I know that the CF-28 or CF-29 shell will work fine and very likely others.
So, what's out there in your garage, closet, barn, back seat of your car ... that you don't intend to restore and that needs a new home and purpose?
And yes, I still have my trusty CF-29 for the truly tough jobs!
Thanks!

Does it matter if the famous palm rest has been repaired? I assume you want the lid too. We should talk.

Hey doc you got me going here. Watcha gonna do, take out the screen, stuff the extras in the various doors? Then set the netbook on top of the kb area and close the lid sans glass and lcd?
If that's your plan I have it all.

The plan is to completely gut the shell and as best I can find them to have all of the covers in place - substituting something else where I cannot (or they are too expensive).
This includes gutting the LCD area - that looks good for manuals and other papers.
The palm rest area has to go - if it does not disconnect from the shell it will be Dremel time.
Essentially the Toughbook shell will be a cool carrying case for when I need all of the accessories and the NB30 - but I still will be able to grab just the NB30 in it's sleeve and attached 6.5hr battery and travel small and light. -
As I said I have what you need. Take a couple days to put it together. It won't take that long I just have other commitments.
Let me know.
I have one that I repaired the cracked palm rest for exercise , I'll pull the MB and all non-essentials. All the doors are there. Waiting on a corner, you'll need that.
I'll talk price PM.
