Hey guys... I am looking for a new laptop for my wife. My first thought was a CF-52 as I built one for my mom with an SSD and 4GB RAM and she loves it.

Any ideas? A handle isn't really necessary so another type would be okay. A full size keyboard would be nice but not essential. Illuminated keyboard would be nice too... But not available on most.

All I need is the laptop and caddy... No drive needed, no charger needed. I have an SSD to install when I get one.

I have a few niceish CF-30 MK1 and MK2 models with OEM GPS, WWAN and emissive keyboards that would clean up nice. Some have a missing port covers and I would say that I would ship them but I have a lot of stuff packed up as I am about ready to move to VA on Wednesday. I already have a little rental near our property so we can keep an eye on the build. So I am not sure I would be able to match up the caddy or port covers with the CF-30.

I am looking for something above 2GHz processor speed. The CF-52 2.26Ghz is a nice one. No need for WWAN or GPS on it. All it will be used for is web surfing, email and maybe personal defense if she misses with her .38 Special... lol

    PM me or post here!

    Rick

I have mostly 2.0 units except for a nice GUN, I have a 2.26 but it has 6000+ hours on it and is a 6 out of 10. Bottom is scraped up. Works good but its been around.

    And a Lenovo G700 3rd gen i5. :)

Nah... #1, It's not a Toughbook. I need a Toughbook where we are going to live. I need all my bases covered.
#2... I use W7... Not Linux. I know you guys swear buy it and I know I can reload whatever I want but still... It's not a Toughbook!

The funny thing is... All my neighbors, friends, etc see me manhandling my Toughbook and I have had other types (Dulls, Sony's, Etc.) get torn up when they try to grab by the screen corner or sometimes just setting it down wrong. I'll have a Dull PC... I rebuild those all the time. They are actually pretty good. But for a laptop.... Gotta be a Toughbook!

    Thanks though!

    Hi Rick
I have a 52ELPBD2M, 2.4/ATI as well as the "docking station", it's a nice clean, complete, low hour system, let me know if you want to work something out.
I would PM, but the site says I don't have privileges/disabled.

Four years ago Rick (Toughbook) started these two threads and made them a sticky. In the past we have had a few shady members (so to speak) so that is why we have these rules now...to protect the buyer and seller

figures...we both posted at the same time...

    Hello,
I understand and appreciate this. I am very apprehensive myself, who wants to get burned. I found this site a while ago and have found it useful/entertaining.
I guess I'll have to find some time for some interaction, it's just that if I don't feel I have something relevant to add well .... I thought is was five posts, if it's 20 I'll really have to get on it.

    Thanks

    Chas

    Hi Rick

I hadn't given it any thought, I saw your post and deceided to respond. You are one of the guy's I see on the site who seem to be expert "toughbookers" so I'm open to what you might suggest. I have a 30MK3 that is like a lot, I picked up the 52 for the screen size (as I going back to college, it's nice to see more lines at once).

I guess I would like to see a parity swap on a 30MK2/3 with dvd/gps that type of thing. When I get to the point where I can PM a dialog would be easier, but I know you probably don't have that much time either. Oh if you want to know it's BIOS/EC are V2.02L12/V2.00L14, 3860Hrs.

    Thanks

    Chas

Blair... You can close this thread. I just scored a CF-52MLBBD2M, 2.53GHz Intel Core i5-540M for $355 on eBay!

The SSD and 8GB of RAM are on the way as well.
