I just got a CF-52 MK2 and I am now in need of a smart card reader for this system. I know most of you on this board never use and will never use this reader. I, on the other hand, must use this daily. I am looking for the "built-in" reader that is on the front left side of the palmrest.

I need everything to install this to include any brackets, screws and cables. I will in turn trade you the standard cover for the same area of the palm rest. In other words, you get the stock cover so that when the reader is pulled, you put the cover on, and it is stock.

I have several of the pcmcia removable smart card devices that came from a batch of military computers. You are welcome to them, just tell me were you want them sent.

    OK,

    Sorry, off the grid........

I've only been able to find one of the pcmcia smart card reader/writer like above, not sure were they all went since I have no use for them and had about eight, but I did find two internal asemblies for smart card readers that came out of some toughbooks, not sure if 50/51/52, but will snap a pic if you want those as well.

They should all fit in a small flat rate box, so I'll ship them as soon as i get a second.

    O.K. I have what I think is a smart card reader. :D

Swivel door above the caddy (right side). Problem being I dropped the 52 0n the slate by my wood stove and it cracked the door. 16" drop test. Every thing else is fine. Do you want it. You would need to replace the door. Super glue rules.

I need instructions for the easiest route to the cmos battery. Going by the manual you take the whole thing apart. Can I just split the case while I'm getting your reader with-out disturbing the upper 1/2?

    I love this thing. 52GUNBR2M.

Using this Rusty for the pictures. There is a part?/s missing. The plastic and rails are there but nothing to connect to the plug. I have noooooo idea what's missing.
I need the part number in #3. Super glue still holding. DFGX0487 The screw was mia.

I did finally see the yellow part you were talking about in PM.

I have a CF-51 with Smart card reader. Would those parts fit?

That is the same thing I have. As for the rest I am not sure. I do have orphanlr sending me some stuff and I will see what I can come up with. I was just hoping for a direct swap.

I was surprised it wasn't there. Do they ship them all with no hardware on the Smart Card sled?

    Thanks,

    Jeff

No they don't. Considering that the military is a very big user of Toughbooks, there are quite a few out there with smart card readers.
