Am I the only person who owns a Sony VGN-A790 ? Great multi-media machine in its day.

I had a HD crash a few moths back, and decided I'd try to revive it to serve as my TV in my office. I was hoping to come to this section, find an existing thread, and maybe find someone who had dis-assembled one at some point for pointers. I've taken out every screw [a few dozen] and the bottom panel is nowhere close to pulling off. Whoever designed the assemblage deserves some slaps!!! :(

Look in the main Sony forum if you haven't at the pinned disassembly thread at the top of the forum. You might find a teardown guide for your model there.

I own a VGN-A397XP (2005 EU model) and .. I still use it at home.
I love the screen and keyboard and I use the dockingstation with speakers and TV tuner.
I did an SSD upgrade and that makes it work !
I have a disassemble guide, pm me

Thanx for the post folks. The day I started this thread, I found what was called a "Service Manual" for the machine for free online; but it was little more than an inventory and exploded view of everything. It worked-out that the $2.50 I paid someone on eBay before that, but arrived later, was the dis-assembly guide I needed. So I have it now too. But thanx much for the offers and info. I'm not going to sweat the $2.50; was happy to pay it. ;)
