I have an F13 with the premium screen 1080p and have no fan noise issue......
And i have an option to enable intel VT on BIOS (under advanced tab)
-
-
sorry guys but what is intel VT, is it turbo boost and is it in the F12.
-
VT is Intel Virtualization Technology
you need it if you want to install vmware or similar -
-
RoarVM Specifically, this VM is meant to support manycore systems with more than 1000 cores in the future and currently tested using 56 cores.

Ok guys. Ive replaced the stock Seagate hd because it gave me to much errors.
Here some test with the stock seagate hd. The 17 ms was just luck. Most of the time the acces time was like 18.9
So I replaced the hd with a Hitachi 7200 rpm.
Much more quiet and alot faster
Also notice the Tempeture diffrence. The Hitachi is really cooler! -
-
. So yes if you want faster performance from the program best bet is to try get the university to sort you out with the multi-threaded variant of the program.
__________
As an aside stop boasting about the NZXT peoplecan't find it anywhere!

Jayayess1190 on the SSD thread recently posted this little utility and I would like to share.

I have a question and i am worried about my sony.
I read on the net that "Once you start changing partition sizes the restore partition on the hard drive may not work properly anymore."
Is this true? if i create another partition other than the main c drive then restore partition wouldn't work. but i want to have another partition where i can keep all the data. even if something happens to c drive my data would be safe on other drive. i don't want to lose my data by keeping everything on c drive.
can i make another partition called D drive from c drive? would i be facing any problems in the future like not being able to restore or use system recovery media?
Also when i tried to shrink the main hard disk which has the space of 423.75 Gb, the another drive comes at 28 GB. i was thinking of having the space around 350 GB. is this possible to shift this much Gb to another drive? -
I would love to read some of what you read warning that making/changing partitions can negatively impact your recovery partition as I do not believe that to be true. Can you provide links? I really don't think you have anything to worry about. The recovery partition is the farthest partition out on the disc. The next one in is the Windows system partition, then your C: drive. Managing your C: partition is like altering property two houses down and building more houses beyond that. It has no impact on your house.
In regard to shrinking your C: drive, there are a few things you must do. I recommend that you download VOPT9 defragger. It's a great program that will show you everything on the drive and where their located. It's free for 30 days.
You can only shrink your partition in as much as there is room to shrink it. If there are files in the way, then you have to move them. Most files can be relocated during "tight pack" defrag.
TWO file types cannot be moved. They are your page file and system restore. In VOPT9, the page file appears as a green stripe and system restore appears as purple. If either of them are too far down the drive, then you have to do this:
Disable your page file, temporarily.
Start > right click over "computer" and select properties > Advanced System Settings > Performance > Settings > Advanced tab > Virtual Memory > Change > uncheck Automatically manage paging file size for all drives > select "no paging file" > click SET. (This will disable and delete the page file.)
Disable system restore.
Start > right click over "computer" and select properties > System Protection > Configure > Turn Off System Protection > Apply
Use VOPT9 to do a tight defrag and watch all of your files get pushed to the outside of the HDD and there should be no immoveable files (purple or green). When the defrag is done, you can shrink your C: partition and create D:
Once you've set up your partitions the way you like, it's very important to turn the page file and system restore back on. Especially system restore.
Good luck! -
-
When I was messing around I created a new 16g drive from my C drive. Shows the file is empty, but under properties it shows 9.73MB of used space. Should I assume my restore is in there?
-
It's easy to assume that the MB could be restore. -
Sony CTO F1390 increased the price for RAM. Upgrade for 8GB was 100.00 now 200.00

A while ago I posted about polishing the top of my laptop with 100% carnauba wax. I've been doing this once a week for approx 10 months now. The oil from fingerprints were always very difficult, if not impossible, to completely remove. One day after buffing by hand I felt the casing transform into a smoother surface. I cannot tell if all the buffing caused this to actually change the surface, or the wax has made this surface smooth by filling in the cracks sort of speak. But now I have a much smoother surface that seems to repel the oils from hands. Notice the back of the picture and you can see the smoothness and shine which I never had before. Would recommend a buffer or alot of elbow grease to obtain the same result.

-
What about the dead pixels on 1080p displays? Is the quality OK? -
-
-
Carnauba Wax is obtained from the leaves of a palm tree known as Copernica Cerifera, which is also referred to as the "Tree of Life". This slow-growing Carnauba palm flourishes in the northeastern regions of Brazil, reaching an average height of 25-35 feet. It proliferates along river banks, streams and damp lowlands.
The tree exudes a wax through the petioles of its fan-shaped leaves, preventing dehydration from the equatorial climate.
The cutting of the leaves and sprouts takes place during the dry months of September through February. Workers use knives on long poles to trim the leaves from mature trees. The cut leaves are sun-dried and mechanically thrashed to remove the crude wax. This crude wax, in its powder form, is transported from the countryside and sold to shippers for export.
With a maximum cutting of twenty leaves per year from a tree, the average yield of wax for each tree is about one kilo per cutting. The majority of tree harvesting takes place in the Brazilian States of Ceara and Piaui. The color and quality of the wax are governed by the age of the leaves and care used in processing of this hard, brittle, lustrous wax. -
because anywhere that had it in the UK sold out and the rest of Europe so far hasn't been much better.
Your laptop exterior looks incredibly good. -
Hi got my new replacement, done a fresh install, wanted to ask where do i get these programs for the F12.

5.Vaio Peripherals Metadata
6. latest international nvidea driver
Thanks, alos can tell me what the best battery plan there is to get bit more time for heavy using, and alot for surfing and working. -
Yeah Hitachi is the best in my opinion. Seagate and WD are not so good.
Hitachi is de best 7200 rpm drive at the moment. -

And if you really want to squeeze the most out of the battery you can always disable aero themes

Also how do you make a dsik image and can i make it on a external drive. -
You want to burn a disc or make a backup of your system? -
Just wax on terry cloth and lots of elbow grease? -

hi, i have a vpcf116fg and the fan is louder than it should be i think.
at idle in a perfectly quiet room i can hear it, and when i open up one browser it gets louder, and extremely loud when i run games. is this normal? -
Now that i have done what i wanted. i would be able to use recovery disc on c drive and restore my laptop to the factory condition if something happenes, right?
A user had written that partitioning hard disk will cause problems in recovery. This is the thread : Unable to create Partition for Crive
it is written in the 2nd post. it is not true, right?
Also i wanted to ask. i have created recovery discs. do i also need windows 7 DVD? i have no problem with the softwares that came with sony. i don't wish to get rid of them. is it enough to keep recovery discs. in case of system failure would recovery disc alone be able to repair the laptop and bring back the desktop. And how to backup the drivers and softwares in the laptop. like copying or downloading them separately and burning it to a dvd for future use. -
guys can you please help with the sony software which i cant find and where vaio update is located.
-
Yes, you can use your recovery discs/partition to restore just your C:\ drive without any impact on your D:\. I still highly recommend that you invest in a good HDD and an external enclosure. It's imperative that you have a backup. My personal favorite is the Hitachi 500GB 7200RPM. Reasonably priced and performs fantastically. Much better than the Seagate 7200.4, IMO.
The posts on that link aren't really relevant to you, as the laptop brand is different, therefore so is the recovery media. The Sony recovery discs allow for restoring the complete system or just C:\
Your recovery discs contain the OEM version of Windows 7. You do not need a separate disc for it. You may not mind the Sony bloatware, but a lot of it runs in the background and may be of no use to you at all. A simple way to do things is to just uninstall what you don't want/need/like. For us enthusiasts, we do the Clean Install.
Once you have your system the way you like it, you should make a system backup image to an external drive. Start > type "backup" > select Backup and Restore > Create a System Image > Follow the prompts.
Creating a system image is crucial. It negates the need for reinstalling the software. You can simply recover from that image.
Me? I've done a clean install, so I keep TWO images. The first of which is the clean install itself, in case I ever need to go back to it, or want to just start over, but don't want to deal with the clean install process. The second image is my recurring backup that I can restore to incase System Restore can't get me what I want.
How to make two separate images? When a system image is created by Windows, it creates a folder WindowsImageBackup on the target drive. Windows will always look to the that folder and will overwrite whatever is currently there. So, make your first image, then find that folder and rename it. I call mine CleanInstallBackup. Then, you can make your regular backup images and they won't affect your clean install backup.
EDIT: If you want to restore from a clean install image in a renamed folder, you must name the folder back to WindowsImageBackup, or the repair system will not be able to see it. Before you can do that, you'll have to rename WindowsImageBackup to something else, rename your clean install image to WindowsImageBackup, restore your drive from that image, then change the folder names back respectively. -
is it true the matte screen has washed out colours when playing game.
-
Many of your questions frustrate some of us, because they show that you have not done any looking for yourself. You must try to do some of this stuff on your own before asking us to do it for you.
You've chosen the VAIO F, a very fine machine indeed. Please embrace its beauty and accept its flaws, or you will never be happy with it. -
-
i have reasearched questions mate, why you getting angry mate. I know its got some flaws like any machine, im just asking with washed colours on the matte screen as its on the glossy screen, i wanted to ask if there are washed colours for videos and games, as i havent experienced it, have others.
-
I've edited that post to add what I forgot to mention about restoring from a renamed folder.
What I'm trying to put forth to you is that if you followed the thread like most of the other regulars here you'd notice that your quesiton about the behaviours of matte were explained in detail a few weeks ago (images included). There are even links to color profiles as well.
Like I mentioned in my PM reply to you, I do not enjoy repeating myself. I'm sure a lot of people don't like to do that. So, I only answer the questions that I can, and of those, I only answer those that I feel like answering. This helps me to continue to enjoy this site and learn and share with others. -
i understand what you mean but the washed out colours were on the glossy screen not on matte screen, thats why i was wondering whether people are saying the matte screen is having washed out colours, in my opinion the defualt settings for the matte screen is really good anyway, i just need to know if anyone has experienced washed out colours on the matte when playing games, so i can do something about it in the future.
