Great to hear and congrats to you as well. I have got the exact same announcements.. Since Friday I could see on SONY's website that it was up for shipment, and today TNT notified me, that they expect to congratulate me with a sure treasure on Friday the 15th.

That's the exact build I'm ordering. Keeps the price reasonable, but should perform quite well, grats. I wish BB just sold that setup, I think it would sell well.

    What do you mean with

If I start the Autstart Sony Vaio Care gets started but since I have no WiFi I can not do anything within this tool ... there is nothing to restore drivers or so.

Have you installed the "VAIO Care Recovery Updater" ? First after installing this you will get these points.
Else install the WLAN-Driver which you saved in the Folder "Drivers" and try to update the care-center.

The fan makes me actually crazy, everytime he is going on - off - on - off ahhh. So i started to build a profil for NoteBook Fan Control.
But my Problem is at the Moment, that i can't find the right registers. Thats because the sony-fan-test-tool does not work after my clean installation.

Maybe someone can help me? I Need 2 Screenshots.
For that you Need to start the following program and click an EC. Than take a screenshot.
After that start the fan tool and do the next screenshot.
The fan-tool you can find under C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\VAIO System Diagnostic\CPU Fan Diagnostic
The program you Need is: RW - Read & Write

    Hope someone can help!

For anyone who's curious about this, the articles Franek's referring to are these:
Customize Windows 8 Installation & Create Unattended Setup ISO
How to Increase the Free Space on the Surface Pro

Still waiting for my 15a here in the US. Ordered from Sony to get a student discount. It's been estimated to ship from Japan on Nov 17 pretty much from the beginning and hasn't changed.

I don't know how it works but can't we send Sony a collective complaint about the fan noise/battery life so that they fix it with a patch or something?
Like somebody who is good in writing writes a good email and we all sign it.

For those who are courious if you should use UEFI or legacy - I've tried both.

    UEFI advantages:
    - Boot seems a liiiiiittle bit faster (from Power on to Boot Loader) - but I can't tell for sure
    - Installation/Boot is "prettier" since UEFI gets the resolution right from the beginnen and enables windows to use a more fancy, animated boot splash (not really important but may bother some of you)

    Legacy advantages
    - Windows creates less partitions (not really important, you wont see them usually and they only need 300MB or so more with UEFI)
    - Boot process magic disappears. As stated in my earlier posts: if you are going to install a second OperatingSystem like Linux it comes with a modern bootloader like GRUB2 which is capable of booting Windows and Linux. BUT Windows always replaces the GRUB bootloader during it's startup process. This can be bypassed by using rEFInd as bootloader or renaming some of the efi images OR by using the legacy mode. So, if you are planning to do a clean install AND if you want to have dualboot legacy is definitly worth a try.

As i mentioned in the post you should download it from the sony Support Website. Because there isnt a download for the Multi-flip use the vaio pro instead.

I would prefer if everyone does it one their own, so that Sony get's a little bit spammed ;-)
For sure someone can write a text, which you only need to copy.
I have already send my mail to sony.

I've just received my lovely new Vaio Fit Multi-flip and it's going straight back. The fan noise is ridiculous!! It's whining away behind me and it isn't even doing anything. I'm horrified!

Can it be, that they work at Sony in very low tempreture? I worked today in the kitchen which wasn't heated (5 °C outside) and the fan was off the whole time :D

Is their someone you can make the Screens for me (see my post before)? I think with that it's possible to make a new fan-control.

So uh my flip came installed with software like Movie Studio Platinum, Sound Forge Audio Studio, ACID Music Studio and DVD Architect. If I uninstall these, can I install them later on having them activated again?

Also, how do you turn of the auto-brightness?

agree with the fan noise problems as I mentioned in the other thread. Sony really need to sort this with a BIOS update. If AMD can do it sharpish with the 290 cards the surely sony can too.

    Hi guys,

I decided to return the 13 inches 128 GB version to get the 256GB version, so I tried to reset it to factory default setting which is window 8 ( right now it is window 8.1) However, it keeps saying missing file and I can't move forward. I then pressed the Assist button and followed the instruction to create a recovery media to a USB flash drive. Then starting the reset again but window now says the USB drive is invalid?? Any idea how to do this?

    Many thanks!

I just got the following email from Sony in response to one of my emails,
"We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
I can confirm that the issue has been resolved with the fan noise of the VAIO SVP. We have released a driver for this issue."

All being well I get my machine within the next day or two, so hopefully I'll never experience the problem.

Also got a discount voucher - will probably get an additional adaptor since I got through 2 with my HP computer & am likely to use the Sony one in 2 different locations so can save carrying the one adaptor around & worrying about battery life.

We have really different opininions on the fun noise from the users...i think putting on silent mode and making some more adjustment the noise can be reduced and the flip can be a usable machine...it's sure that for 1200$ you shuold expect a silent machine.

Runs the fan at this test the whole time with the same speed or did it change?
If it Change, could you make a screen at maybe 3 different speeds?

I found a possibility to turn the fan to the max. speed, but still searching for a bit where i can Change the speed by my own.

Is there any update section for the 13A model? I can only find the 14A and 15A models.

    Edit:
Found it on Sony USA site. Seems to be different updates depending on country/location? Because the model names are different, and so are the updates.

    In reference to this
    and this...
    ^ Correct

I do hope that the sender of that email just made a spelling error otherwise it will lead some to get the wrong update and that might possibly mess up your machine.
Now if the update is indeed on the Sony site i can't find it. Mind sharing the link?

There is no update for the fan, if the fan driver is called "fan diagnostic", then the drivers seems to be really old, from april. So are some other drivers also. Here's the link for the SVF13N13CXB (there are two other for 13A) - Sony eSupport - SVF13N13CXB - Support

Here is one for the SVF13N190X (windows 8.1 which has less updates) - Sony eSupport - SVF13N190X - Support

The model i ordered from Sweden is called SVF13N1C5E, and i havent found any update for it. I dont know if i can use the same as the US models, have to call and check.

After updating everything (Win 8.1 + all Patches, Vaio Update and rebooting about 10x) AND setting the fan control to "silent" it is silent, indeed.
I also removed McAfee and kicked out some autstart stuff.

Machine stands next to me for 1h now and I did not hear anything. During browsing the Inet it sometimes kicks in ...
Not perfect but a lot better compared to when it arrived.

Very interesting, thanks for supplying the links. I have the same model number as you so if you find out the answer please let me know.

Also interesting! I updated to 8.1 and noticed a decrease in fan noise. But when I went to intel's driver automatic download scanner it was unable to recognise any of the components. If I downloaded the 8.1 updates manually from intel they refused to instal saying they didn't recognise the system. I couldn't find any updates through Viao's own updater. I rolled back to 8.0 in the end. Might end up giving it another go if Falconary's links work...

If i start vaio update it like to install the "VAIO Firmware Extension Parser", if i click install vaio update starts the installtion but it didn't end.
On the VAIO Website was a download-link, but it was broken. So i write the Support and they checked it, but now i can't find my model anymore.. (SVF13N1C5E)

Nope, when I updated it told me to plugin the power adapter, then it processed the update. Within the new Vaio Control an update for gesture control which I also installed and now it says "no update available".
Maybe your "problem" occured due to plain Win8 installation (I moved back to the original image btw - I had no time to manuall find all the drivers and fan control).
