The CS Series really arouses my interest - I'm anxious to find out when this notebook will be released, how it'll perform concerning battery longevity and if there's the possibility to configure it (concerning CPU and GPU).
-
I would really consider these if they offered a model with 1440 x 900 resolution, but it seems from the specs that they won't.
Still awaiting the actual different specifications that they'll offer, but I'm not hopeful.

Does the 12-tone music analyzer only works with VAIO MusicBox?
I tried to play songs on iTunes, the LEDs doesn't blink! -
any reviews/comments of this notebooks?

I recently purchased the Sony VAIO CS110E/R and coulnt be happier with my decision. I am a DJ and the lights and AV touch controls are great. I am running Vista home Premium. Intel Centrino technolgy.
-
I currently own the Sony Vaio CS110E. Sangria Red. 2.00 GHz intel Core 2 Duo. 250GB HDD. 4GB RAM. intel Centrino technology. I have had no problems my machine for about a week now. I have had consistent performance from both WiFi and battery with no lag o drainage issues. I get about 3-4 Hrs. out of a full charge. Screen brite set to 45%, DVD turned off, and WiFi on. with regular web browsing and Chat.

Its 1 year old now.
I still recall when I bought my glossy black VGN-CS16GQ model last November, so far it is still Ok. I have not experienced any issues like fan whirring noise or anything. I consider myself lucky to have this model.
Months before Windows 7 was launched I've been dying to upgrade the O/S since Vista is too slow. My worry is that some of the function of my laptop might not work properly since I do not have the drivers and to make the situation worse, Sony did not include my model in Windows 7 upgrade on their website.Despite everything, I still decided to change my O/S to Windows 7 anyway. But before I completely zap my C drive, I made a back-up of the hidden partition where the original Vista OS resides incase something goes wrong just to play safe. I extract all the Vista drivers and 3rd party application softwares that comes with the laptop.
Using the original bootable Windows 7 installer, I formatted my C drive and install windows 7. The whole process of installation is automatic with a few clicks required. After 10-20mins, installation is done. To make the FN keys, Volume/brightness controll buttons, AV mode works I used the original Vista drivers that I extracted prior installation. It all works under compatibility mode.
Now, Im fully satisfied with my VAIO VGN-CS16GQ. It boots in less than a minute compared to 2-3mins in Vista. Even all the softwares and games that I have works perfectly. -
Hello guys,
since this is the CS thread, I thought it may be worth to ask here, does anyone have any idea what the installation order would be for getting volume and multimedia keys working? Actual question has been asked in following link but still no solution:

I too plan to upgrade my OS to Windows 7 on my CS17G. Have downloaded the drivers available at Sony's Asia Pacific Website. But still can't find the Web Cam driver.
Anything else or drivers I need to download prior to the upgrade? Have created a set of Recovery Disks. Also, is there any other thread for CS Series - Windows 7 Clean Installation Guide? -
Greetings everyone,
I own the CS11S, and have already tried to make everything work in Windows 7. As I have seen in this forum, it is almost impossible to make it work 100%... I have problems with the graphics driver (the most important problem) and also problems with the touch-keys for the volume and so... Has anyone found the best way to do a clean Windows 7 installation and solve these issues? I guess the driver installation order is significant...But what is the correct order?
In addition, has anyone tried to do an upgrade to W7 from the factory installation of windows vista? Does this work?
Thanks to everyone that reads my post...
P.S. I too had the all-time-classic problem with the CPU fan, and sent it to Vaio service, they replaced the fan... -
Thanks thmonkey for updating the thread. It looked as if there were no more CS Series users.
I upgraded to W7 Pro in Mar '10 but till date hv not found any way to make the touch panel working.
Luckily had no problem with the graphics driver.
P.S.: Had to get my CPU Fan replaced from Sony too (Under Warranty). -
@DhruvC:
i read somewhere that the touchpad drivers for the mousepad cover the touch keys...I am curious though, how did you manage to get your nvidia to work with w7?which drivers do you use? -
I downloaded the drivers from Sony Asia Pacific Support Site. The very first driver given here is for Graphic Card.
-
Hmmm, at least the graphics are working... Have you tried with a clean w7 install? I'm thinking, since you installed all the drivers from the sony asia website, a clean install would work with the same drivers...
Anyway, i will try and post feedback here...thanks for your answers DhruvC! -
@DhruvC
Another question...the link you provided with, regards model VGN-CS17G and not CS11S which i own...is it compatible? I do not see my laptop in the compatibility list. In addition, I cannot find the graphics driver, which is my major issue...Where do I look?
Thanks again and sorry for the trouble! -
hey guys,
if someone needs a like new motherboard for the CS for cheap let me know. I took one out of my sisters since she dropped it on the screen so its not worth it to repair it. costs too much for the screen, plastics , etc..
but the motherboard works perfectly, the battery is available and also the intel T6400 chip. this laptop was only couple months old with low use. she only uses it to check her emails.
let me know if your interested by PM.

I recently replaced my fan and heatsink and I have to say that it was definitely worth it. I also upgraded to Win 7 and everything works flawlessly. Well with the exception of the screen flickering. It's not too bad but it can be annoying at times. I cant remember if I updated the ROM, though I did update everything the Sonystyle site said I should before upgrading to Win 7. Even the touch controls worked right after the upgrade to 7.

Guys, I got a CS21Z/Q, have the fan issue but seems to have stopped recently lol.
Anyway I just installed Windows 7 (2nd time) and used this guide for a Clean install. Everything seems to work including volume, brightness and AV Mode. (All I really use tbh)
Heres the link guys:
Support for VGN-CS21GN : CS Series : VAIO Notebook : Sony Asia Pacific
Not sure on the CAPTURE button yet either but it does not bother me.
Just for the record - I am using 7 x64 Ultimate.
Going to try updating the nVidia drivers to latest and see if brightness function still works
