I'm Confused between Black & White as well...lol

Generally I prefer black...but read a few posts about the scratches  being visible on it ... in any case does the surface really seem easily scratch-able?

Was also wondering if it has a USB 3.0 port at all ?? ...I read this on some sites, but the official site doesnt mention anything...

Forget black and white, get green, lol, that's what i would get. Ok simple question just because it has a USB 3.0 port, will a regular flashdrive utilize the speed, are all flashdrives 3.0 compatible.

I wish people would stop caring about the text that is displayed. When you set an application to high performance then the AMD card IS working. Always was. The recent AMD patch just improved the performance of the drivers and thus the card.

    Code:
    http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst115ahotfix.aspx
let us know about the result

I'm running SC2 on ultra settings at still getting 50fps(!!) with the fix. didn't know 6630m was this powerful. This is miles beyond what I used to get on intel HD 3000 and is a clear indication that SC2 was running on the intel HD 3000 all this time.

Wrong. Once again, stop posting incorrect information. It is not merely "wrong text." When applications tell you that things such as OpenGL 3.1 is not supported by your card, yet the Radeon HD6630M obviously does, it is plainly obvious the card is not being used by all programs.

you order a caddy and an external enclosure right? ...Have you changed the HDD and cd/dvd?

i want to do the same, i was looking and i found this:

    1. 12.7mm Universal CD/DVD-ROM SATA 2nd HDD caddy $14.49 on Amazon
    2. White USB2.0 Slim DVD / CD RW Burner External Enclosure Caddy Case with SATA Connetor $7.39 on Amazon

the same dimensions as yours ( SATA 2nd HDD Caddy)

I think this is a good choice

    I also found these

    - macally CM-S525U Plastic 5.25" White USB 2.0 Optical Drive Enclosure $32 on Newegg
    - Vantec NexStar DX 5.25" IDE to USB 2.0 External Optical Drive Enclosure - Model NST-530U2 $34 on Newegg

What do you think? Will it work?

As long as it is 12.7mm it will be fine. Your enclosures for the dvd drive won't work. Needs to be slim SATA, not IDE. I bought a $20 one off of TigerDirect, from StarTech. Works just fine.

i contacted some Sony's high tiers of tech support in my country. They confirm with me that this problem is that Sony had to fix.

They said that it had some problem with the bios lockout that sony put... i've contacted AMD by emails, and they confirmed it

    *sigh

perhaps on the 5th or 6th june ATI / VAIO will releases the new hotfix again *hoping

    depend on your power plan,
if you switch to power saver mode| 100% battery level | stand by up to 5 hours |

but if you switch to high performance | 100% battery level | stand by up to 3 hours

here is a SS from my CA :)

i think that's impossible... this recognition problem maybe can only be fix by bios update...

it depends on your battery and the wear levels, what program you're using

I know ch4mpoleon just posted a screenshot of the computer's reading, but how accurate it is with day to day usage, say for example Wifi on, word processing and web surfing?

I hope that this problem be corrected as soon as possible...The look/design/quality of this laptop youre not going to find elsewhere, at least for now...issues with photoshop and brink? well, I can deal with that and wait for an update

    good luck!

Just received the VGP-CPC1 case (the black highlighted one) and a black keyboard cover for my CA - after being on order for 2 months with Sony direct.

The case is hideous - please consider wisely before you buy. For starters, it is not white like the marketing pictures indicate - it is shiny silver and very feminine. It is also too large for a 14" laptop. The padding is also insufficient - it is a thin layer of very light and airy foam perhaps 3mm thick - it has little rigidity or shock absorbing ability. The more I look at it the less I hate it but I was horrified when I opened the box. Putting a mouse in the bag makes it bulge from the outside awkwardly. Sony at no point mention the colour as being Silver on the website.

The keyboard cover looks good but there is a lot of slip as the cover slips over the keys. I based my purchase on a review in this thread from merzbow (with photos). It stated that the skin allowed the backlight through - IT DOES NOT, AT ALL! Whatever merzbow had is different to mine - the black skin that Sony sent me is completely opaque! I have had to remove it to write this comment.

Well done Sony, CA laptop 8/10. Accessories 0/10. Service from Sony Direct UK 0/10.

How strange, i also have a keyboard cover but there is no slip and i can see the backlight through it. The only thing i don't like is how much harder i have to hit the keys now so i don't think i'll be keeping the cover on.

Thanks for the reply. Turns out that the US get a translucent skin but the EU get opaque skins. The US part is VGP-KBL6 and the EU is VGP-KBV6 (and it is more expensive at £20 compared to $20). The US version also comes in white, which is unavailable in the EU.

The US Sony site even specifies that is designed specifically for backlit keyboards. I'll be calling Sony on Monday to arrange a return, they can have their pathetic cover back too. There is just no excuse for this other than profiteering.

    Hey everyone,

My girlfriend just bought a VPCCA15FX/W a few days ago. I did a clean install of Windows 7 HP x64 and installed all the drivers. Everything seems to be working fine. The only thing I'm confused about is the Intel RST program says that the hard drive is using SATA 1.5Gb/s. I looked up the hard drive on Seagate's website and it has the ability to use SATA 3Gb/s. I'm also pretty sure the intel chipset supports it. Is this normal?

Anyone with the CA or CB try downloading the 8.823 video card driver from the sony website (comes if you search under the Vaio SA drivers)? Does it work? Does it improve anything?
