So that would be fine? Sata to sata, and it's 12.7mm. Shouldn't matter that he's saying it's for Thinkpads, right? -
But I'm in communication with Sony's "highest tier" of support right now, so hopefully a fix will be forthcoming... -

Let me know if they already inform u about the problem

Hello,
For those already received their orders, would you mind sharing your impressions regarding your machine. Any pros and cons would be nice. I'll start with mine.
Pros:
- Silent
- Fast (much faster than my previous laptop)
- Huge screen, I like having more space for opened windows.
Cons:
- Kinda heavy
- Battery life's short (or is 3-4 hours normal for this one?)
- Fingerprint magnet.
- I installed VMWare and created an XP SP3 VM, however the touchpad scrolling doesn't seem to work.
As for the ones still waiting, how's your status? I remembered someone ordered an orange one (Nice), and user FromThailand, have you received yours yet? -
but i thinks it's not for me. My first order (EB series) was a mess and super late so i cancelled it when i saw the new C series. I ordered again for the 2nd time, the Neon orange
,,,, but! it took almost 17 business days without any progress on my order, the rep said i need to rebook my order due to some system error. Okay! (controlled my temper).
On the positive side, something good (for me and i think for Reli and ScoobyDo too) happened.
The day I cancelled my Neon Orange to rebook the order, sonystyle.com was weird that day(April 19). There's some kind of a glitch. 8GB ram is $20 i think, Windows 7 Pro, Norton 3yr subscription, Microsoft® Office 2010 Professional ARE ALL for FREE!!! so i took the Fresh Start option
So i maximized my order,
Plus, they gave me 10% discount on my order due to inconvenience. I also received an email for Credit confirmation. They will credit my MasterCard a $40 value.
Cool. I made a huge savings! My final payment is $859.24for the following specs:
Component: CD/DVD Player / Burner
Component: High capacity battery
Component: AMD Radeon HD 6630M (1GB VRAM) hybrid graphics with Intel® Wireless Display technology
Component: Fresh Start
Component: Norton Internet Security 2011 (3 year subscription)
Component: Sony® Imagination Studio Suite
Component: 8GB (4GBx2) DDR3-SDRAM-1333
Component: Intel® Core i5-2410M processor (2.30GHz) with Turbo Boost up to 2.90GHz
Component: 320GB Hard Disk Drive (5400rpm)
Component: Microsoft® Office 2010 Professional
Component: Black
Component: Genuine Windows® 7 Professional 64-bit
Component: 15.5" Full HD VAIO Premium Display (1920x1080)
Luckily! the order went through! they assembled my order based on my glitched configuration hehehe. the HDD didnt have a glitch that they so i got the lowest one (i'll upgrade to SSD in the future).

i also got the free Bloggie Touch Camera! Cool. Sadly, this camera does not have flash. Thanks anyway

My brother received it the 26th in Canada and sent it to me straight away by first class mail (5 to 7 days) because of the price. It cost him $120 by first class mail. It would have cost $280.00 by UPS.

Looks cool
Excellent 1080p display
Nice big keyboard
Quiet
Very fast
Easy to upgrade
Solid feel to the chassis
Cons:
Automatic light sensor is nuts (but can be turned off and everything set manually)
LEDs at the front bleed light through the plastic, makes it look cheap
Heavy
I love mine overall. It is fast, quiet and seems to run cool. No complaints really. My only regret is that others got better deals when the glitch and bloggie came into play. But hey, the longer you wait the better deals you get, that is the price you pay when you jump in first. -

It just came in and im typing on it and i gotta say this thing is sexy ! the screen is amazing it blows my mind away. The only thing I don't like so far is that it is very finger print prone. I'll get back with a review once i get things set up.
-
-
The other thing I keep doing is grasping the lid in the middle to open it, which is right where the camera is. I have to stop myself. That can't be good for the camera after a while... -
Mine is here! at 1030AM.. i'll get back to you guys..
-
Yeah mine is black
xD i love how the keyboard lights up when i type and when i am just clicking it turns off -
I've got the white. All I've done so far is make the 4 recovery dvd's. Waiting for my SSD to get here today from UPS before I set things up and really get into it. Backlit keyboard seemed nice, the screen is huge of course, and it did run quiet. Idle, it was about 40-45 degrees C, which compared to my netbook at 75-80C, is crazy good.

Ok, one of the first things I did after turning mine on was pop in the ESET NOD32 antivirus cd to install. Does anybody else's laptop vibrate alot when reading a cd? Its pretty loud and you an feel *alot* of vibration on the palm rest while its spinning... is this normal?
-
what program burns the recovery dvds?
nevermind, think I found it.... Maintenance>Create a System Repair Disc. -
I really didn't notice any vibrations really when i was burning my recovery cd's and the spinning is normal because of the high rpm's that it requires to burn the recovery discs.
-
I personally bought a Kingston 128GB

Thanks... Vaio Care was the answer.

I'm still waiting for the price of SSDs to drop. I'm sure they make the CB series fly, but this thing is flying as is. I have the 500GB 7,200 RPM and can't believe how fast this thing wakes up. I'm still impressed by how much faster this is than other laptops I've used and that this is not an enthusiast laptop.

I paid $200 on Amazon (same price on Newegg) for the Crucial c300. Not sure if it was this topic or the CA. I fresh installed Windows 7. I can't get the AMD Catalyst Control center to install again. Any help?
-
I paid 6,690 baht for my Kingston 128GB SSD which is exactly $223.18 USD.
(I'm a bit concerned about my CB that is still at the post office in Montreal after 3 days according to the tracking. They said 5 to 7 days to get it here but 3 days at the post office in Montreal is a bit long I think) -
Hey guys, I received this laptop on Tuesday. I'm trying to play games with it. but it seems like the game wont recognize the graphic card, and I tried to update the driver from Sony esupport, but no matter howmany times i installed it(I used run as adim and in safe mode) it doesn't change the driver version on the video card. Does anyone have any solution to this?
-
Mine will come in a few days time and I want to get some DVD's for creating a Recovery Disk as soon as it arrives. Please let me know how many disks I need for this and what are the other Initial setup tasks to do.

Is is possible to view my laptop Screen in some Old CRT TV's using the NetGear Push2TV adapter? Even for latest plasma TV's is any kind of Port/Cable is required. I am planning to buy a TV and I want it to be able to display my laptop screen.

Hmm. I just tried the Street Fighter 4 PC Benchmark. Running normal on HD 3000 integrated, got about 30 FPS on default settings. I told the catalyst to use the Radeon 6630(1GB), and while the game still said Integrated, it went to 60 FPS same settings. However, the fighters were stuck in the ground. Not sure if its just a game issue, driver issue on my part (I installed the original Radeon driver and updated one from the Vaio site), or something else.
-
Tried PassMark PC Benchmark test. Normal integrated graphics: Score is 1410
Used catalyst to put it on high performance. Score is 1566.
So..it's definitely in there. Just not working 100% or something. Hopefully cassy gets some answers on this, otherwise we all should be getting on Vaio support. -
So i decided to upgrade my CB with 4gb of memory to 8gb of memory (2x4gb).
Here is a link to the 8gb (2 chips of these 4GB chips) of memory i bought.
NCIX.com - Buy Kingston 4GB 1X4GB 1333MHZ DDR3 NON-ECC CL9 SODIMM Memory Module - Kingston - KVR1333D3S9/4G - in Canada
Can anyone tell me if this is a good choice of memory for the CB series? How does it compare to the stock "Elpida" memory that came with the CB? Also, what does the "NON-ECC" in the link mean? -
No, really it is not fast now. The difference between a 7200rmp HDD and an SSD is like going from a 486 to an i7. If you are impressed now you are going to be blown away when you get the SSD. -
It's good to know that I'm not alone with this problem though, might motivate them to fix it more. -
check these out. This is my benchmark video

yeah, when i first got this computer, i called their tech support right the way. and they couldn't do anything. the only options for me were either they replace my video card or they will give a replacement order...... i got this computer on March 22nd and got my replacement on April 26. how sad....... please let me know if they give you a solution.
