So it's not released yet, and in fact hasn't even been announced by any tech blogs or rumour sites, so NotebookReview has broken the story, with the first place to post pictures. (See this thread)
So To start off a quick list of the specs,
- Two backwards facing USB 3.0 ports
- One SD/Duo combo card reader
- Full sized HDMi slot on the back
- 10 Hour battery life
- Trilluminous 13" 1920x1080 Digitizer display
- Redesigned sliding function.
- Backlit keyboard
- Trackpad
- ClearAudio+ Speakers
- Thinner and Lighter than the Duo 11
- Exmor front and back facing cameras
- NFC and GPS
- NO VGA or Ethernet or apparently a thunderbold/displayport.
So aside from it looking different than it's Duo 11 brother, it's got a bigger screen at the same resolution with a thinner and lighter construction.

Expect it to come in various flavours of Intel i3/5/7, with 4/8GB Ram and 128/256/512GB of SSD space, No Haswel this revision I expect, but it may be using the updated Ivy Bridge chips the new Lenovo Yoga is using to get to that 10 hour battery life.
I believe it will either be released for sale in the next 2 weeks or you'll hear more information within the next two weeks, either way NBR has the first pictures published online.
Expect this thread and post to be updated when more information becomes available.
*Edit*
Depending when Sony announce it for release it may well have a Haswell processor, all depends on the timing

-
update more pictures plsssssssss
-
This is interesting and a completely new type of design (sunken keyboard, battery, potentially, behind screen.
I put the case forward for it being Haswell here but there cold be some marketing tricks going on. 10hrs on IVB (even the Y-Series) doesn't 'fit' with this design and weight IMO.
We'll see! Thanks for posting the info CoolHotCold
Chippy. -
The small trackpad on the front lip is an interesting idea. The Duo 11's optical trackpoint was a good idea but just doesn't work that smoothly.
I still like the Duo 11 better. The port selection (including the VGA port and the ethernet port) has saved my bacon more than once in a business setting. And I love the sheet battery and the digitizer stylus (stored in the silo in the sheet battery). -
I would prefer an 11" screen just for the sake of portability but if the Duo 13 is lighter and perhaps just a wee bit bigger than the 11, I would definitely consider it. The bezel on the Duo 11 can be cut down to fit in a 13" screen I believe.
I doubt it wouldn't be Haswell considering the speculated 10 hour battery life. Ivy Bridge doesn't have that kind of tech yet does it? -
-
Yeah that's the thing. If the Duo 13 has 10 hours battery life without the added bulk of a battery sheet, then I am sold.
The slimness of the device looks awesome. Can't wait for the official release information! -
Personally, I hope it will be new Ivy Bridge since I don't want to wait for months. If the following rumor is correct, it will be the new Ivy Bridge instead.
Intel to slash power consumption on Ivy Bridge chip | Business Tech - CNET News -
Man if they can offer the Duo 13 at almost the same footprint as the Duo 11, I will jump on it. Sigh! and I just bought the Duo 11
Though I would prefer a new Duo 11 with a lighter, sleeker and 10 hours battery. For portability the 11.6 size is awesome
-
Interesting to hear that an Australian Sony rep has mentioned that the Duo 13 is already appearing in their system and should be available within a month.
Makes me wonder whether it's got Haswell in there and be released after Intel's announcement in early June.
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1972330&p=18#r342 -
It won't be within a month, I can guarantee that. (Sorry I'm unable to go into specifics but I can tell you that much).
-
-
Sorry, I can't guess because I know the exact date. But I promised not to leak anymore information about the duo & other models till Sony Officially announce them.
-
Thanks for the info! I have been holding off a new laptop purchase since Dec 2012 for a Haswell refresh and now I finally have something to look forward to! Awesome! Thanks alot!
I bet Sony is not gonna be happy regarding this leak! -
-
I hope this comes in a nice black finish option.
-
I hope no glossy cheap plastic like on the Duo 11.
-
To me this has the potential to be my perfect device and I cannot wait to get my hands on this if it is what it appears to be.
Any chance this will have a Wacom digitizer?
I was considering the Surface Pro but MS have messed up big time with the timing of the UK release being so close to a new wave of devices with better processors.
Really curious to hear more about this device including UK release and price............... Anyone? -
UK release date expected 21 to 26 June according to a leaked webpage on another thread.
-
How has this stayed under the radar for so long if it's so close to launch????
So....... price and digitiser specs are all that's left to learn for me then, but I guess I can compromise with the digitiser.
Surface pro now officially released in the UK..... resisting temptation in order to wait for the 13" Sony. -
According to the following Japanese website (original source is Korean news website), it will run on Haswell and is expected to be released in the end of June in Korea.
Google Translate
13" FHD
128 to 512 GB of SSD
Haswell
Sony Exmor CMOS front camera
NFC
GPS
10 hour battery life
Touchpad -
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
if that true+good stylus and price it'll a perfect device for me -
-
^
Above and below the screen are strips of easily scratched glossy piano black plastic. -
I hope it's not priced as high end device (like due 11 )
about 999$ for the base model will be great -
EDIT: Seems 1499CAD is the price for pre-launch.

We can find more tech details below from German website.
Google Translate
New findings are:
Weight: 1.34 kg
1 x Ethernet - RJ-45 USB Adapters
Dimension (W/D/H): 33 cm x 21 cm x 0.92 cm
Color availability: silver / black
Comes with HDMI to VGA adapter and Mini Router with Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity
You can see 3 new pictures there too.
1.34 kg is a little bit heavy but the less than 1 cm thick is quite amazing. -
Nice find, loading the pics here in case the page disappears.

Assuming the weight and dimesions are correct, it's just *slightly* bigger than the Duo 11, and smaller in one.
Duo 11 size
319.9 mm (32 cm) x 199 mm (20 cm) x 17.85 mm (1.8 cm) no slice
319.9 x 199 x 33.28 mm (3.3 cm) with slice
Duo 11 weight
1.29 kg (no slice), 1.665 (with slice)
So if the Duo 13 can have the same battery life as the slice built in at just under 3lbs with the built in battery, that's impressive. You shave off almost 3/4 of a pound you have with the slice.
I still dislike the lack of optical nub (I for one love it) and the lack of built-in VGA and ethernet, but giving you dongles is better than nothing. If this is the case, they really should have put another USB 3 port.
As for the memory, the German page says one slot. If true, that would be a huge disappointment. While soldered on the motherboard, the Duo 11 is two SO-DIMMs, meaning dual channel.
We'll know soonn enough ... -
Oh, the links have been gone already...
However, the google still has some cached pages. There were actually 4 models.

I am pretty confused by the description on the website. It states TFT, IPS and Triluminous in the spec sheet.
-
Edit: Double post

WOW, I haven't been so excited for a tablet pc even when I had found out about the Surface Pro. It's actually good that it took so much to come out here in Europe!
Can't wait to get the black version, looks like the perfect pc! (except for the price, but it's always like this with premium stuff)

I see it has a pop-out pen holder, though still no pen storage. Shame about the VGA port - it's nice to be able to drive 2 additional monitors simultaneously straight from the machine. Nice size/weight. I just hope it has a better keyboard - I find the Duo 11 keyboard terrible to use as it so often fails to register key-presses. However, I too have really grown to like the optical pointer.
-
hmm was gonna drop my 11 for the 13.. but I hook up 2 displays for work, so might have to stick with the 11
-
When will we see it in Europe?
-
I've been waiting a while for a Duo 11 with Haswell, but maybe I'll get this one. I need the VGA port for my job, though, and I'm not a big friend of dongles. We'll see.
-
-
FenderP, what settings do you use for your optical nub? I like the concept but I can't get mine to behave well. A mix of oversensitive and under.
Sent from my SCH-R530U using Tapatalk 2 -
I didn't change any of the pointer settings (middle on speed, acceleration enabled, etc.). Same for scroll
I've always preferred a nub type thing to a trackpad even including Panny's round one on the S and Js I own. The problem is I wear them out (my U70P went back to Japan I think twice). The optical one won't wear out.
Due to the logistics of the Duo, it wouldn't work, but if SOny had put the nub where they did on the U70P (in this case it would have to be on the right black bezel part of the screen), it would have been better. But because of the tablet profile, it would never work unless they recessed it a little. -
Hi
When can we expect the news about vaio due 13 on computex (or when is sony conference at computex and is there a live video for the conference ?
I'm very excited for this device ,and really loved the black due 13 -
^ It'll be this week!
-
^^^^^^^
yup I know
I want the day for sony computex conference ? -
Is Sony even having a press conference at computex? btw the black one looks amazing.
also will the Duo 13 have a dedicated GPU or will it just ship with the intel GPU? -
Intel HD Graphics 4400. (GT2)
It is expected to match the performance of AMD Radeon HD 7610M.
Intel HD Graphics 4400 - NotebookCheck.net Tech -
Computex starts from June 4th to 8th. Last year Sony announced their laptops right at June 4th and I hope that is the case this year but laptops were released in Oct 2012 last and I hope this year they do it fast...
I can't find Sony under the exhibitor's list unless they have used another name besides Sony? -
^^^^^^^^^^^^^
hopefully it'll be today , and I think most likely the i5.i7 will be Haswell (since acer new laptop is using it I think it's not hard for sony)
is any one else amazed by how much powerful is the new Haswell processor and it's integrated graphic ? I think finally this is it powerful, slim , with good battery ultrabook
I've used my current (and first) core 2 due desktop for 4-5 years and I'm very excited that I'll finally find a great replacement that do everything I need (hopefully sony announce it with no major flaw)
