My computer just went from "Being Built" to "Completed." About how long did it take for those of you who have received yours to get it after this status change? I'm really excited, but nervous about the wifi issues.

what is the estimated shipping date pal?

I used Duo 11 for about a month, returned it and got Duo 13.
Duo 13 is so much better than Duo 11. I would never go back to 11...
Number one reason is the keyboard. I used to work as a transcriber, so I type fast and accurately. With the transcribing software I type 200+ wpm. On Duo 11, it was impossible. Typos (missed keystrokes mainly) everywhere. Cramped keys were not so bad, but the keys not registering keystrokes was horrible. But on Duo 13, as long as you hit the key, it will register. Keys are very shallow and stiff, so it does make your wrist fatigued more so than regular laptop keys, but if I get used to it I think I can figure out an optimal way of typing...
Number two is the touchpad. It's tiny, but it still is a touchpad. With Duo 11 I always had to go get a mouse if I wanted to get any real work done. With Duo 13, I can work with the touchpad if I had to. (Mouse is better of course.. But better than optical stick)
Number three is battery. I had the sheet battery, but it made the Duo 11 too heavy.. With Duo 13, I never have to worry about running out of battery.
As far as the screen size, I like the larger screen on same resolution because I had trouble reading text in Duo 11. Text was too small on Duo 11... This is because I don't like to zoom. I can read text in 100% size in Duo 13. I couldn't in Duo 11. -
The first button is supposed to launch the active clip, but it works some of the time and doesn't work most of the time. I'm not sure why...
But if you use the stylus in OneNote (which is my only use for stylus), with the first button you can select your drawings, and with the second button you can erase. -
It says it is being shipped on the 26th. I've read a few peoples posts with dates and their dates still haven't passed and they already have their computers, so I was wondering about how long it took from the status change.
-
damn. Mine says 07/19 but still being built.
Our first one took a day after the COMPLETE status popped. I hope it is not that long. Did you get 4650 i7? -
yes, I got the i7-4650U, 8GB, 256GB model. No AT&T.
This new one you got, did you order it last week? A lot of orders last week said the 19th, even though I ordered mine a month ago and it said the 26th. I called to ask Sony about it, but they gave me a BS answer pretty much saying the date was arbitrary and even though mine said the 26th and the new orders said the 19th, I'd get mine first because I ordered first. -
no I ordered on 06/12, when I ordered system said 06/28 shipping date and then it changed to 07/19. I have contact CS with no luck.....they are stupids.
-
I won't disagree with that. I ordered mine around that same date I think, so hopefully yours will change soon.
-
I hope everyone get theirs as I hate to wait. My wife got hers first and I am very jealous as its a very nice machine and I would like to have my own. Hers wasn't that heavy modded.
-
Kind of an odd question, but has anyone tried to set up a dual boot with OS X? I'm leaving the country for a year and a half and cant bring my iMac with me, but I need FCP. If anyone has tried, please let me know how it went.
-
My order went from "Processing" to "Completed" today as well. My shipping estimate was 7/12. Hoping to get my Duo 13 soon!
-
Do you know if the maximum screen brightness is lower than the Duo 11 or the same?
-
Finally got shipping confirmation, from built went straight to shipment. I will get it on Friday. Yay.
-
Same here. Very excited!
-
high 5, lol. Since Ms.Wife got hers, I have been patienly waiting for this day.....and finally....it almost here.
-
I've been experiencing a strange problem with my 13. I usually put my vaio to sleep with the ac adapter plugged in overnight. The next morning the computer will not wake up from sleep. In fact, the only way to get the computer to wake up is to unplug the ac adapter, replug the ac adapter and then press the power button. When the computer boots up, I get a message saying "your PC ran into a problem."
This only appears to happen with prolonged periods in sleep mode. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm a Mac user for the past 8 years and this return to windows has been less than ideal... -
Ditto on the shipping confirmation. Friday morning is my estimated arrival. It's coming in from Nagano, Japan, which is where Sony's high-end VAIO facility is located.
-
Yes exactly the same issue....let me know when you find out. I actually left it unplugged and battery was dear....weird stuff a bit and also I get the same message.....
-
Guys, check out Sony USA support page - Duo 13 drivers are up and there are several updates on drivers.
The newer Broadcom Wireless driver doesn't seem to fix signal strength issue for me. Can anyone else try and report back? -
Same, Friday morning.
-
My fastest card can only write 30MB/sec and this was also the speed I got when writing data to the card..
Absolutely not... yesterday I was one floor above the router (exactly above it) and got a very nice speedtest result (60~68 Mbit download) -
When my Duo was shipped from Japan, it only took 3 days to get to my doorstep. I was quite impressed...
-
Yesterday I was really impressed with the duo 13 as I could play F1 2012 in 1080p without problems ( a lot of details on low ofcourse)
My 18 year old daughter was also impressed
-
Thanks... I find it hard to press the buttons when using the pen...
What do you mean with "launch the active clip" (my english is not 100%) -
One last post...
I think the power on/off button is hard to press?
Does anyone know how to disable waking from sleep when touching the duo? Can you configure this only to wake up when pressing the power on button? -
Ordered my own this week. Can't wait for it to arrive
-
im really amazed no one hasnt noticed the noise the pen ie stylus makes when drawing ......this is the reason im sticking with my t902 fugitsu.............i have linked a video and if you listen you can here it.......maybe some people wont be bothered but for
me it a real pain ....its like having a ticking clock next to you when your trying to sleep ..........i love wacom for the fact you can change the nibs and i like using the felt nib on my t902..
does this not annoy anyone or am i the only one
Sony vaio duo 13 Microsoft OneNote 2013 test - YouTube -
Doesn't annoy me at all to be honest...the only things that annoy me with the pen is that i'ts hard to press the buttons and that the pen always get loose when I put the tablet in a bag...
-
Did you try the supplied nib? the installed nib had so much of this problem but the extra nib per instruction works better and I haven't noticed anything.
-
Hi,
I got my vaio duo 13 a few days ago and I was wandering where I can find the GPS settings. I would like to know whether and how I could access offline maps using the built-in GPS module and if it is possible to track the laptop via GPS only (not via internet) in case it gets stolen. Thank you. -
hi i never tried the supplied nib ..interesting can you still here the clickin noise or is it better with the other nib
-
How do you get the old nib out? I pulled on it as hard as I could and it would not come out. I wanted to try the black nib and determine which I like better.
On shipping, mine showed a deliver date of 7/27 but showed up 3 days after the status changed to complete. It arrived on 7/5, last Friday. -
I did hear it with the original but didn't notice it on the extra nib. Let me check tonight and let you know....maybe it was less and that is why I didn't notice. But extra nib per instruction provided by Sony on a sheet in the box is much better,...
-
I used a plastic knife or something that doesn't destroy it I couldn't do it with my nails.
-
Two different pen tips are included, providing different friction levels on the glass surface to closely pursue the desired pen-on-paper user experience....from a website i was looking at...very interesting ...i wander if i put a screen protector on it would have made a difference....
-
Ours also has the factory installed screen protector but I think the noise actually comes from the pen itself.
-
Needle nose pliers worked great once I was sure it was OK to just pull the nib out and there was no "release" or special process. The black optional tip might feel a little better... I will give it a try.
-
Has anyone ordered THESE or ordered any case or sleeves?
-
When I called and asked Sony, they said the US model didn't come with a GPS. I hope they are wrong, but is not that big a deal to me.
-
Got my Duo 13 yesterday...got unlucky with this one. The backlight keyboard doesn't work (even after going through all the troubleshooting), the screen has a couple spots of really bad backlight bleed, and I don't know if it's just my display or all of the 13's but the viewing angles are terrible compared to my Duo 11's.
I'm really disappointed right now as I was anticipating this thing so much, and I love the keyboard, performance, even touchpad I like a lot, but it just had to have these problems. At least I know it should only be this particular one, but still annoying.
I do have to say, I really notice the sharper edges and larger design more than I thought I would, and I really can't see myself using this in tablet mode like I did the 11 a lot. I may just send this one back and hold out for a refresh of the 11. -
I will order it with this case.
Do you guys think that the "writing feeling" is defferent with a protection sheet?
Will the Duo price drops in about 3 month? Dont need it atm but in 3 month, so cant dicide if I should wait or not.
@Plex1969 do you have a 4650U or 4500U?
@perry1mm send it back and try a new one, I think its like you said ... you got bad luck
-
^
I have this case. I love how it looks and feels. It seems to get the job done.
Say, is it just my Duo 13 or is everyone's not showing battery remaining time? Mine only shows percentage left. -
Thanks for sharing your experience with the case and ours doesn't show battery left either. Is there an option to activate?
-
^
Thanks for the swift reply.
I even factory restored and the remaining time doesn't show...I was going to pay a visit to Sony.
The Duo 13 does last one hell of a long time... -
I agree. Its very nice...but vising local Sony store won't help as they don't even know what you are looking for...I bet its part of Win 8 and should be somewhere to get it activated.
-
I have the i7-4500U
-
Has anyone seen the post about Japan and Europe getting the duo 13 in limited edition color RED...too bad I would love to have that option, mine is ordered and processing but that is as far as its gotten but I don't live in either place.
-
i got the duo 11 when it first came out ...it developed a fault as the touch would not work ...i sent it back to sony service centre in the uk ...they couldnt find the fault and after having it for a week it arrived back ...i opened it and noticed sratches on the bezel and a hair line scratch on the screen...........as you can imagine i was very very angry and wrote to sony ...to cut a long story short they did nothing about it even though it was under warranty ....this put me off them for good ....i allso had backlight bleed and they said it was in spec ....if i posted the pics you would clearly see its really bad.....i moved the sony on to a friend and he was happy to take it even knowing it had the scratch .....i read up on the duo 13 and thought ill give it a go as i can allways pay on my card and send back if not happy......once again backlight bleed and as i have said before noise from the stylus ...i got this as i thought its a bit thinner than my fugitsu t902 and maybe would work well etc ....on the 11 i had the official screen protector and found the stylus to be really good .and the feeling of drawing on paper was great .....my biggest problem was the stylus noise which drove me mad....it must be a thing with n-trig ....ive still got my t902 with 512 ssd and 16gb ram and will be keeping it ...ill get the samsung ativ q as it looks really good and i have a samsung ativ 11.6 which is great for sketching and battery life is superb ..only prob is ram ,in this case i revert to the t902.....it will be very very interesting if wacom bring out a tablet as they have promised to ......i think a lot of these devices are over priced and to me the screen could be soooo much better ...backlight bleed should be a thing of the past by now ....im sure there are people who are happy but after my ordeal with the returned duo 11 and the further bleed on the duo 13 ive given up with this company
