It also will not come with 8GB of ram options, I believe it is a deal breaker for many.

I was wondering if I should get a white or black Duo 13....Is the white more susceptible to scuffing and marks vs. the black?? Does anyone have a preference and why? Thank you for your time.

Looks like estimated ship date for my order has been pushed back to 7/26/2013 (from 6/28/2013). I placed the order on the 9th.

    Nice find, thanks!

I guess HD5000 on the 4650u is limited by the 15W TDP. Well, since I won't have access to this CPU (at least for now) I guess it won't be so bad with the 4500u. It would be interessting to compare two Duo 13, one with a 4500u and another with 4650u as Anandtech didn't compare the same laptop brand and good cooling and form factor plays an important role in performance of a CPU of this caliber!

My ship date was also pushed back from 6-28 to the 7-26!!! This is ridiculous, what is the point of estimated ship dates if its going to be this off. seriously thinking about cancelling my order if Sony doesn't give me a discount on the purchase.

One thing to notice is that 5000 is on MBA, and 4400 is on Acer laptop. They may be using different power saving strategies... I'd be interested to see the performance difference between 4400 and 5000 on a same machine.

Did anyone else notice the price has dropped $200 on the custom laptop???? So I am supposed to pay more and have to wait another month now for my laptop? Emailing to cancel my order right now!

I'd be surprised if they don't have an option to pay more for 8GB of RAM and a larger SSD. When the Duo 13 was first demoed, it was also demoed with a mid level configuration. We'll see what happens. Samsung would be exceedingly clueless to release the ATIV Q with no other option than 4 GB of RAM.

ok, this is seriously ridiculous. First, I see that my order of the core i7 4650u that I ordered on 6-9 (initial estimated shipment 6-28) was moved back nearly a month to 7-26. Now, I see that the same customizable is $200 cheaper and is estimated to be shipped on 7-5, three weeks earlier than the laptop I preordered over 2 weeks ago!

are the early adopters being punished horribly here? Im seriously thinking about cancelling my order now, but I have serious reservations about the whole "estimated shipping" time system, which I believe is completely convoluted. what do you guys think? is it worth cancelling and reordering and hopefully getting the notebook at an earlier date (but risking getting it at an even later date?)

just think this is ridiculous. maybe the system is set up to bait and switch people to preorder the computer thinking theyre actually going to get it at a reasonable time, then hitting them with a month-long delay due to actual supply constraints.

actually, I DONT see a $200 decrease. I thought I did, but I didn't consider tax. Maybe it was the automatic 7% discount for students, which I already used.

If you try to build a new i7 4650 now, estimate ship date is Sept 6th.
My order was suppose to be shipped on 6/28 but now its moved to 7/19. Another one we have with i5 says "its being built" eventually I am going to see the thing sooner or later but I can't really wait anymore....

According to insider wow works in Samsung Russia and already had an option to look inside the Ativ Q. He sad that ram is soldered on board, it is 4x1GB chips and there is no place to add more. I hope he is wrong, but probably it is the price we have to pay for the thickness.

Sony have been just announced here in Russia and it cost $2300 for the base model. It is literally cheaper to fly to US, buy it there and come back.

Does your order status say "Processing"? I noticed the new ship date when the status changed from "Processing" to "Shipping update." You're probably safe if the status goes directly to "It's being built."

This is not good, when I was told that the base model may cost approx. USD$1800, I thought the sales guy was making up the figure cos the Duo 11 here in Malaysia is about USD$1330.
It's not announced here though, if the price is as told, I'll probably go for the Surface Pro or wait for it's Haswell refresh.

Not sure if this is compareable to surface pro specially at the size of screen. DUO13 is a special device and I pay for it extra for being Laptop and tablet at the same time in a unique way. We have surface pro and unfortunately it is not that amazing. My wife is very tech savy and owns the surface pro for few months, just recently I took her to Sony store and she loved the DUO 11 and she asked me to order her a DUO 13 to sell the surface pro. Battery sucks on Surface. If this is to expensive, it would be worth to wait and see what comes next very soon. Good luck pal.

I've been playing for some hours, and i agree with internet reviews, great quality (i can conifrm, it's build in Japan). Windows Experience Index is slightly better than my Z2 (i7-2620M/8GB) even disk access, so far it looks as responsive as the Z2 but tomorrow i'll began to do some serious work and i'll confirm this point.

Only two small annoyances, SIM Card slot is micro-SIM size, i'll need to change my data SIM. Also i'm really missing the finger print scanner, SONY has included a facial recognition feature but i've not tested it.

In the box were included the wifi hotspot and the hdmi-vga adapter.

I've not really used a lot the pen but i know what to expect, i've an n-trig device (HP Slate 500) and a wacom device (Galaxy Note 10.1), i know that i'm losing responsiveness (and the f.....g battery annoyance on the pen) but it`s enough to take notes.

So far. It seems a good replacement for the combo galaxy note 10.1/Vaio Z2

Can you say more about the pen and writing? How comfortable is writing on the Duo 13? Can you relax your arm while writing? How good is the pen? accuracy? can you draw with it? Im used to my Intuos4 with 2048 so I dont expect too much but its still fine to draw sketches,...?

I'm writing this with the pen . I used n-trig pen for several months and Quality's really good for note taking, only that ntrig pen produce more noise when hit the glass. size is perfect you can write quite comfortably, accuracy is really good, even at screen borders.Tomorrow i'll use it in several meetings, but i don't expect surprises,

Sorry but my drawing level is like a two years old child, no help there.

Congratulations! Could you please tell us how the screen feels? Does it wobble when touched in a laptop mode? And isn't the text too small in both metro and desktop mode?

The screen feels really solid, no wobble, right know i'm writing in the couch and the screen doesn`t fall over even when it`s vertical, as seen in some internet reviews. The text, default dpi is small but i'm used to that as the z2 has exactly the same resolution and screen size and it's quite convenient when using programming IDEs. About metro, font is bigger and quite clear.
