Dual bare drives (1.8" or 2.5") would absolutely fit. What are you planning to plug them into, though?
Try changing the channel on your wireless AP. What band are you using? 2.4 or 5.0Ghz? You could also try removing the wireless security (temporarily!) to see if that's the culprit.
Uhhh....no. If you work in a corporate environment, you'll realize just how necessary still having a VGA port is.

Thanks... I'm trying to see if I can build a RAID drive out of Intel X-?Ms. There's just one SATA port (to the HDD which I will replace). I'm looking for a SATA port multiplier (PM), one that can fit either in the WWAN space (which is empty for me) or the SSD space (also empty). Right now I'm wondering if there's sufficient volume, the PMs out there are around 8.45cm x 5.00cm and have a floppy power connector's height. The other issue is that the PM uses SATA connectors to the drives, I'll probably use T-SATA ones but I'm not sure if those will fit within the allowable height...

It doesn't seem hard to make the PM fit, it's all the connectors that's consuming space (by standing upright). I'm thinking a smaller one isn't being sold because these tend to be targeted towards desktops (nobody's crazy enough to jam them into laptops :D). I need to stare at laptop innards for a while and figure out the spaces within...

    20% of 4500 is 900
    15% is 675
    Difference is 225

    (+ tax on 225: 6%=13.50)

Their is no trick really.. You just call up and talk to a rep. You tell him/her what your interested in purchasing and tell them your on the fence and a discount would help you make the decision. sometimes you have to call a few times because some reps dont budge and other are really nice.

For the folks who had your machine shipped today, you might be able to pick it up from your area Fedex office.

I just called and the rep added notes to the shipment saying I would pick it up tomorrow.

This is, of course, if the package makes it. The rep said they usually do.

    Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was looking for this, couldn't find it (searched a bunch of threads here), thought I dreamt it up. Now to find out how to buy it...

Edit: Bloke in the video says it costs US$850  I'm not sure if it'll fit the bay as well with the SSD, it's kind of long... perhaps with 1.8" drives.

Edit2: Looking at this card, trying to confirm dimensions...

I'm still hoping for feedback from people who've handled the Signature Series Z. How glossy is "glossy" and how easy is it to remove fingerprints? Oh, if only Sony hadn't limited us to one choice for the full HD display.

I am using the HP Synaptics driver, love the two finger scrolling, but I miss the two-finger tap for middle-click and three-finger tap for left-click. Anyone managed to get these features working? Shouldn't two-finger tap be possible if it can recognize two-finger scroll?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Zoinks,

congrats on getting your Z, it is a fantastic machine. One word of caution for the pckup though: check with FedEx! Mine had a giant FedEx sticker (never saw that before) saying 'No rerouting, No pickup, no exceptions' among other things...

    just an FYI

i was totally going completly bonkers trying to find the 15% off, when all i found was the 8.3%... luckily though compusa is at 12.5% lol, so i was able to snag one through there... how long did it take for the purchase to be reflected on your bing account? I purchased the laptop about 24 hours ago as of now and still nothing on my account (no mention of the purchase or anything of the sort)

I agree. Some external HHD's such as SimpleTech have the Y-Type cables that make it easy to connect if you have two ports side by side.

What kind of discount is 12.5%. I can't believe they have the base Z with 192SSD in Silver configured. Is there tax when you purchase from them? I'm hoping MicroCenter or BB gets this same model as they will discount further.

MicroCenter has Z112 128ssd at 1699.99, but CompUSA has Z114 192ssd at 2099.99. I don't think $400 for an extra 64SSD is worth it. Which did you end up getting?

i purchased a base model for 1899 - 12.5, so the total WILL BE 1660. no tax, free shipping, and an additional 20 dollars off if you "register" to be a preferred member. if you can wait, wait for the 15% off from tigerdirect, which supposedly happens maybe 3 times a month or so

edit - i live in CA, and i purchased it online. microcenter in the bay area currently has 3 in stock (last i checked) but they did not have a display model out (at least i didnt see one when i was there for like 10 minutes picking something else up)

I installed the guest additions under Ubuntu 9.1
It's all working great. I did notice at first the screen was at 1296x732 or something, but that is just the size the window happened to be at that moment! Stretching the window, while showing the display settings dialog, updates the actual value in real-time.

If I tell it to go full-screen, the display becomes 1600x900.
If I just double click on the top bar so that it becomes full screen but I can still see the virtual-box menus, I get 1600x799.
Performance is very good. When it's full screen it just feels like native linux (on a speedy machine).
    I like :)

p.s. I am running Vbox 3.1.4 with VT-x enabled as well.

I think it's doing something stupid because of the DPI settings. My DPI is at 150% and 1280*1.5 & 720*1.5 happen to be 1920x1080...

I'll maybe do more digging later.

I love notebookreview forums because you get so much information from them, but they need to improve the search function. You should be able to search a thread for phrases. Anyway, can someone give me the link to install the HP touchpad drivers that allow two finger scroll?

We should open a new thread with everything you should do when you get your PC. The re-install that Zoink suggested with the recovery disks and selecting not to put programs on worked really well. Also, I did everything except VM and regedit with that other list. Just couldn't find the HP drivers. Maybe a seperate thread with everything would be better.

Oh, another note, do I need Microsoft Live for anything? I have like 5 Microsoft live programs and I have never used Microsoft Live.

    Thanks!!!!

    Thanks!!!!

I got a question about the HP multi touch, has anyone got the 3 finger flick to work? It has a setting for it in the options and i have it enabled but I can go forward and backward on web pages, like on a mac. If anyone has a fix or even another software that allows me to do this among the other mutli touch features it would be helpful.

Hi. You may have missed it earlier, but everyone here is downloading the HP drivers for the Synaptic touchpad on the Z. All reports are that they are fully compatible.

And in answer to the 3-finger motion, yes I have it working.

What I'm finding, though, on all of the multi-finger gestures is that the fingers have to be separated just so. Say about 1/4 inch or so. Using 3 fingers together doesn't work (often triggers the pinching action), but 3 fingers slightly spread does work pretty well.

From what I understand, it's usually handled by the person who started this thread. Valuable information is placed on the 1st page & 1st post of this thread - edited and inserted to keep things updated and current. He/she can then control pertinent information and allow people who later get their Z's easy access to these information without having to read and flip through each page.
