    hi,
I bought a CR 220 sony laptop few days before.I mainly use it for watching movies through it on my TV.I have Duraband speakers.I am facing a problem that when i connect laptop's earphone inlet to the duraband inlet, the wire does not fixes well in the laptop inlet, and the sound does not comes immediately in the speakers.I have to adjust the wire so that the sound can come through speakers. The same wire is working fine with other laptops.I guess that this is the problem with the laptop's inlet itself.Today i got the laptop exchanged for a new laptop of same model.I tried putting in the wire without switching on the laptop.I am afraid that even this new laptop would have the same problem as the wire is not fixing again well.Is this a common problems?Have you also faced the same issue with your sony vaio.Should i go for a different model or get the wire exchanged???

    Hey all

I'm about to buy the Cr off of sonystyle.com but im still a bit hesitant about it, the one thing thats bothering me is that there is no dedicated graphics card. Do you guys/gals think that they will upgrade it eventually and have it as a an option? Cause i know the cr didn't have bluetooth right away, but after they got demands for it they eventually put it in, do you think they will do the same when it comes to the graphics card? I also don't want to buy it and in 2 months have the cr come out with the graphics card and be pi$$ed that i didn't wait

    Hi,
I recently got a Sony VAIO CR140 and the fan comes on and goes off like every 15-20 seconds along with the clicking of the hard drive trying to work. I have heard this is somewhat normal, can these be replaced or repaired through the Sony repair centers?

I just got my CR220E/P for Christmas..yup, I got a pink one, strange but we found these to be $70 cheaper than the other colors. shrug, as long as it works and it is a pretty pink tone.

    My questions are:
What has everyone found to use for a docking station or expansion base? Sony doesn't make one for the CR series but I found a Kensington and Targus that might work but wanted to hear what other found that does work.

Also, the LED seems to light up with motion or touch - I have not found a purpose for this light except for to confuse me as to it's exsistance.

Overall the laptop seems to be pretty good. I am replacing my custom Dell XPS M140 and Sony Vaio Desktop with this one. Which is why I would like somnething that acts like a docking station for when I am working on photo projects.

    Happy new year everyone.

Last week I purchased a Sony Vaio CR21S/L with MS Vista.
I found drivers for XP from Sony and decided to install XP Pro SP2.
Everything went ok. But the Fn key doesn't work.
I checked all the drivers, but they are as they should be. Can you help me?
    Thank for your time.

I had the same problem. The driver tha I downloaded from sony is called video ATI, but our CR has an intel graphics card. So go to intel.com, find the
chipset of your laptop and download the correct driver. It worked with me.

Go into your camera settings and options, there is usually a check box for Mirror. Uncheck it.

Also another source is using the Help & Support under programs, I am finding the one on my CR is pretty good and informational.

    VGN-CR220E

Touchpad buttons (as well as others) are too hard to press. The keypad is fine. Very goodloking laptop.

The problems. iTunes and RealPlayer do not work properly. I was not able to install VAIO updates. I get "This update is not intendeed for your computer model". SONY support was not helpful.

UPDATE: Disabled sound enhancement via VAIO CONTROL CENTER/SOUND and both iTunes and RealPlayer work properly!

Hi, I just got the white CR for Christmas and I really like it :) I could have opted for a cheaper notebook, but I was just won over by the beauty of it..

Anyway, I have not yet been able to figure out how the AV mode works? It will let me play DVDs, but it won't let me access my own songs or pictures, only those that were pre-installed on the VAIO. Can anyone help me, please? I would really like to be able to make full use of the function :( I bought my VAIO in Germany, but I doubt that should make much of a difference?!

    Thanks so much!

Hi. I am an owner of CR21s/w. I am a little bit worried about its battery. It seems to last about an hour in the optimized program and with wireless on. Isn't that too short? Does anyone else have the same problem or is it normal?

Also i cant keep it away from sleeping. I have disabled all the options that put it to sleep and still if it is idle for a while it wont obey and go to sleep. Any suggestions there? Thanks a lot!

Hello there owners of CR :)

I am considering buying the VGNCR25GB for my sister as a 21st bday present.

    http://www.sony.com.au/vaio/catalog/product.jsp?categoryId=30604

I was wondering what is the equivalent model name used for this laptop in other countries) for research and review purpose specifically to this laptop).

i am also wondering about the difficulty of the clean install to decrease the amount of bloatware. I myself am not that technically fluent, i can however follow directions okay.

My main concern for the laptop is noise and heat, is this a quiet and fairly cool laptop?

My apologies to those who consider my questions silly, i am a newbie after all.

I WOULD LIKE TO BRING THIS TO YOUR NOTICE!!!

tHE CR RANGE'S CLICK BUTTON(THE LEFT ONE) HAS A PROBLEM.

if one checks various laptops of the shelf of similar make(cr range) and clicks the left click button(below the touch pad)....you will find inconsistency among all the models....the problem lies in shallow click, especially towards the left hand bottom corner of the left click button

again this is more prominent in laptops of cr range with finger print scanner in between the two click buttons........manufacturing flaw i guess.....

the problem is present in my new laptop(cr 24 black colour)......i got a ridiculous explanation at the service center saying that , " you should be clicking at the centre of the click button and not in the left bottom corner of the click button!!!"....though the right side click button works fine in any area !!!!!!

this seems to be in line with a similar glitch found in vaio laptop...wherein the space bar doesnt respond towards the extreme left side...this has been well documented in you tube video aswell!!!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8s0qTjNFKQ

sony seems to be launching expensive products without any proper testing!!!!

ps. the click seems to be softter at the mentioned zone and varies from laptop to laptop of the same model....i foresee the failure of the click button after few months of useage....if the state is such in a brand new laptop!!!

Will semi-clean install of Vista retain originally insstalled non-trial software, such as Microsoft Works?

Thank you very much for your posts! Your input is much appreciated.

Anyone have trouble like me with 965 driver? I have a cr120e and the display turns off after Vaio splash. If I disable the driver the display works.

Aargh, I have the CR11Z/R and I want to downgrade to Windows XP (trackmania doesn't work!! And ofcourse it will be faster), but Sony only tells me this:
There are no plans to release any other applications or utilities (like hotkey applications, power management etc) for XP.
So everything will work, except the FN-keys and the powermanagement. Also the "capture" button in the top won't work.. anyone who got this working? Can you tell me how?
    Thanks!!

    Hey Everyone -
I bought a CR-220E at the beginning of December @ Best Buy. I was having issues with the sound...as in, it would randomly NOT work. If I restarted my computer, it would usually turn back on. It's not like I was running 29001 programs with sound either. It was usually just a dvd player, or itunes. I explained the situation to BB several times, and even replicated the situation twice for them. They just decided to replace my laptop because of a defect. But I just wanted to check and see if anyone else had the same issue? Because if that's the case I am just returning the laptop for good.

I have disabled sound enhancement via VAIO CONTROL CENTER/SOUND and both iTunes and RealPlayer work properly! You might want to try that too.
