calot, In my case, I downloaded various partition software, and attempt to 'merge'.. it just didn't work out... I geuss they won'y do it because the software is running on C: (OS) and im sure merging will require some critical processes that can not be done in OS disk...

So,, the only way I came up was to do CLEAN-install ! (botting off from DVD)

Honestly, I just could not handle myself having to see and waste 7.4GB+ of 'nothing' in my SSD !!

how the hell does sony justify themselves? they just take 8gb out of the 32gb ssd drive just because? they should let you erase it. im gonna buy the recovery disks from a sony style next time im in the us ANYWAY. i dont need that ****.

Nope. If you work with a lot of computers, it is worth it. I use both that and Acronis True Image, but I was given free copies back when I worked in retail.

i can do that? i downloaded acronis and could apparently do what i wanted, but when i tried to exit and save change made it told me that it was a demo and that nothing would change :(

also, sometimes my disk says it has 11.7 and sometimes 9. something... Whats up with that?10 minutes ago I had only 9.4 gb left. And now, after installing and uninstalling some software I have 11.7

the software didnt even take 50 megabytes of space.

ALso, I disabled hibernation.. does that have anything to do with it?

by downloading a trial from torrentz... will i be able to do what i want? I really want those 5.5 gb

Supposedly better Wi-Fi reception is what some claim, although for all practical purposes, it's really not an issue, until everything moves at "n" speed.

Hibernate takes up about 2GB, so get rid of that first. The bouncing around that you get is due to Restore. If you want to "let air out," just perform a restore. At least that's what I think. YMMV. :D

Phil was not referring to obtaining a trial in the way that you are thinking. What he's referring to is a different way of obtaining a full version.

Also to me the SSD writes 9.03 free of 23 GB. I did recovery dvd(s) with acronis true image, there is some hidden partition to delete? Shouldn't write 32GB?

I thought I would let you guys know what I have done to improve the way I navigate using the touch pad.

First, thanks to bogart in another thread, I installed this driver to enable vertical scrolling with the touch pad:
The add-ons that I use to improve navigation within Firefox are All-In-One Gestures (which allows me to open new tabs, switch between tabs, reload pages, as well as a lot of other useful things by only using the touchpad), and Tab Catalog (which I don't utilise often, but like to have just in case).
Considering my main browser is Firefox, I also customised it to better suit my needs.

I also added things like weather, script protection, download statusbar, IE Tab and some others that cover more specific needs.

I have uninstalled a lot of programs for the time being. I am going to be making my own custom recovery disks that will install just the OS (both full and stripped down versions, using vLite) and the various free programs I use (e.g. AVG, Firefox, ZoneAlarm, Irfanview), and then I will make another complete one that will install all the programs I will use.

    Hullo All,

I have been having a strange problem with my TZ90. Somehow my touchpad mouse is not working properly. Everytime i start the computer my mouse buttons are reversed and the right click does not seem to work. I tried installing and uninstalling the ALPS point driver many a times and also tried to install a different ALPS driver as well. I can no longer left click. The function of right click is relegated to left click now.

Strange part to this overall problem is that when I installed the USB mouse it works just fine... so i am thinking some thing is wrong with the touchpad or related hardware. I bought this one from Conics and I know Brett would be more than happy to help me out with this. But I dont want to ship this lappie to him when i can have this problem resolved through intelligent folks like you all.

    Any solutions will be appreciated...

You said on another thread that you were thinking about going for a logitech mouse (v270), did you get it and is that the mouse you installed?

    Do you use uberoptions?

If yes to using logitech install uberoptions available here and re-program the mouse buttons manually.

    http://www.mstarmetro.net/~rlowens/uberOptions/

If you are already using uberoptions then uninstall it and re-install. I had a problem with uberoptions/setpoint on my main pc last night that was very similar to yours and that cured it. Good luck.

i tried that trick but didn't work..... i guess i will have to return the laptop for warranty service..... This should certainly not happen with a $2700+ laptop. I am starting to worry about SONY's quality now....

Did you have this problem all the time? Or was if after you installed the mouse?

My pad worked fine without installing any drivers. I did a clean XP SP2 install.

To me it sounds more like something in your software is wrong. A clean install may help.

as i said, it should work WITHOUT installing drivers.

If you answer this questions it will be more clear if you have a software problem:
Did you have this problem all the time? Or was it after you installed the drivers or mouse?

Sorry PhilFlow, I over-read your comment earlier.... No I didn't have this problem from the start.... This started only a day ago.... I turned on my computer yesterday morning and the mouse started acting funny.... I left clicked to open an application and it popped open the menu for right click. Then i left clicked on desktop and it again popped open the menu (or window) for right click button. Then i right clicked on the touchpad menu, but the right click didn't work. Thought there might be problems with the driver and so un-installed the current ALPS POINT driver and re-installed the same driver again... But that also did not resolve the issue.... So, i went a step ahead and installed a USB wireless mouse to see whether it would work or not. As expected, the USB mouse worked just fine. Hence, i concluded that the problem was with the touch-pad or a related software or a file, as you mentioned.

So, there i stand right now...

Thanks for replying to so quick...

Ok, if i would have to guess I'd say it is a software problem, since you did not have it from the start.

Have you tried removing all drivers and mousesoftware, does the touchpad still work then?

    My partition was still there.

You can not see it in My Computer or C: drive. If you want to be able to see, change, or delete it, you will have to use a partition program.

For a program to purchase, Acronis Disk Director worked well for me.

Has anyone experienced this error on the TZ191 when attempting a "Complete PC Backup" using the backup software incorporated into Vista:

"The writer experienced a non-transient error. If the backup process is retried , the error is likely to reoccur. (0x800423F4)"

I get this error when trying to use either the DVD-R or an external USB harddrive as the backup destination.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

So, something went wrong on the night before you noticed the track buttons behaving badly. I would do a system restore to before that point and see what happens. Hopefully, you can get it resolved without having to send it back. :(

And if that does not work, a clean install would be the next thing to do, before sending back.

Then when you have done a clean install, make an image of it. Now you know why.

If you did not make an earlier backup, image your current English install and restore the Japanese one. If you still have the issues, then it's more than likely that it is not just a software problem.

If you do not have any issues with the Japanese install, Brett may be able to send you a generic image file. You would have to ask him.

I downloaded Acronis Disk Director and yes you are able to see the hidden partition. But, I wasn't able to delete it because it was a demo option. Is there a place where can i take free the complete Acronis Disk Director without purhase it?

Edit: Ok, I managed to find Acronis but Im having problems with deleting the hidden partition. Nanaki, could you please tell me what to do, step by step? For the moment it is "unallocated". I have to wipe the partition so I delete it completely? How many passes should I chose?

I am not reading this thread since its beginning so please dont shout at me if this question was asked or answered.
Because Im planning to get TZ from conics i want to ask you -
    1) Is it possible to buy SDD in the future and place it as primary disc? (now order with classic HDD and no DVD)
    2) Is there big perf difference between U7500 and U7600? Or is there any difference in battery life?
    3) How fast is it with Vista and 5400 rpm disc? Does anyone have this config?

    Thanks in advance! ;)
