just looked at dell's site and the price of a 64gb ssd upgrade is now $750 (down 150 from $900 a couple weeks ago) on the m1330.
any guesses as to when sony will follow?
anyone know which ssd dell uses vs. sony?
-
i think sony uses samsung but 4get about their prices dropping. dell not sure though, they might use the same.

Ask flamenko, he's an expert on SSDs and knows which ones are used in the XPS M1330. Since the M1330 has an SSD option, why not the Vaio SZ?
-
The only SSD in use by manufacturers at the 64Gb level remains to be the Samsung 64Gb SSD reviewed below.
Thank you Rahulnirmal..I wouldn't consider myself an expert, but rather, one who was fortunate to do a few timely reviews that were read by the right people. Threw a thank you your way.
Just let me know if I can assist in any other way.
EDIT: The reduction in price is encouraging however and seems to be timed wisely as their will be releases and reviews of 128Gb (and larger) SSDs this month, pricey as they will be. -
It is still crazy expensive...

Its expensive because, traditionally, the SSD has been manufactured for enterprise sales in the Military, medical, aeronautical fields and so on. Understanding this, we could deduce that a great profit was made through these avenues but now, because a few have elected to approach the consumer market, prices are being forced down to a much lower level.
Logically speaking, where we believe that companies have the ability to make tons off of consumer sale of SSDs, we are not considering the fact that we are forcing the profits down of their enterprise sales as prices must be reduced their parallel to this. -
flamenko, good point about the profit margin on the enterprise sales. i didn't even think of that.
i'm hoping they will offer a middle ground between the 64 and 128 ssd's...kind of like the 32 and 48 options they have right now. i'm hoping for something like 96gb. -
64gb? Ha, thats child's play compared to this upcoming 832gb beast!

sweet! that should only be around $100,000 right? guess i better pick up a couple extra jobs and maybe sell off a couple extra organs. i didn't need extra kidney anyway. -
I dont get it. Why would someone want a 832 ssd. Sure you get alot of storage but for that price you could hire someone to follow you with an extra comp 24/7 and prolly blast of less cash on that
. Put it on a space shuttle? Then again it would prolly be cheaper to just put an extra engine on the thing.Beats me what its made for.

Hmm yeah.. A 800gb video file. Sure, why not.... (I'm not convinced, but then again never done video editing)

Wow. VE on a 50mb/sec drive. That's a lot of patience...
$150 drop in 64G ssd price?
