    Hi,
I'm looking to upgrade an old Vaio sitting around.

I bought 2 x 1GB PC3200 RAM from eBay but after opening up this laptop, I noticed that my VAIO RAM is small (about half sized of regular stick RAM).

Could anyone direct me to a URL page where I could buy this sized RAM? I'm looking for 2 x 1GB RAM, preferably Samsung, but I guess brand name doesn't matter at this point since it's hard to find this sized RAM.

Left is the RAM I bought from eBay and the RAM on my laptop is the RAM for my VAIO.

    Amazon.com: Sony VAIO VGN-FS740/W 15.4" Laptop (Intel Pentium M Processor 740, 512 MB RAM, 80 GB Hard Drive,DVD+R Dbl Layer/DVD+/-RW Drive): Computer & Accessories

    Sony eSupport - VGN-FS740/W - Manuals / Specs / Warranty

Memory: The 512 MB of built-in memory (2 x 256 MB, PC3200, 400 MHz DDR2) is a good start for power users, and it offers a faster than average RAM speed (333 MHz). It has two memory slots in total, with a maximum memory expansion of 2 GB (2 x 1 GB).

    Thank you in advance!

The RAM you bought is for a desk top, you need DDR2 laptop RAM (not DDR3, that will not fit), put that in the search box on e-bay. I believe the fastest DDR2 1GB sticks are 800 MHZ.
Run this small program from Crucial and it will tell you what exact type and what the max you machine can take.

Crucial is at the top when it come to RAM, Kingston is good too, most come with a life time warranty. I found NewEgg cheaper then e-bay and certainly more reliable.

I looked up your model from Crucial and the max is 667 Mhz of each stick at 1GB for total of 2 GB.

It's inexpensive, I wouldn't even bother with e-bay, buy directly from Crucial or NewEgg.
