    Hi everybody !,
I'm new here, I just signed in and to tell you guys this website got better support for sony's products than the so-called sony support.
Anyway, I'm about to do a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and I got some questions :
    1. Should I revert my BIOS settings to default before attempting install ?
    2. Should I preform install while the battery is plugged in along with AC power of course ?
    3. I have just installed another 2xGB stick of ram, I orignally had only 2xGB, should preform install with only 2xGB of ram and Install the other stick after the installation ?
    4. Should put wireless on or off while installing ? (I have a wireless router with DHCP enabled)
    5. Where to download orginal drivers and applications for my model SR55E/B?
    6. After installing windows should I install original drivers and applications first or check windows updates ?
    7. What is the correct order of drivers and applications installion in order to all the function works correctly ? (FN keys, switch mode, ...etc)

Thanks in advance, I hope I didn't ask too much or something.

This Forum ROCKS !, I'm glad that I found it, maybe Sony should redirect their costumers to this place for support.
    Thanks again ! :)

Full model name : Sony Vaio VGN - SR55E/B from the SR5 Series.
After succefully installing Seven and test all the functions, I will for sure 100% put a full installation guide.

Hi, please do not bump your posts within 24hrs as it is against the forum rules.

    1. Should I revert my BIOS settings to default before attempting install ? Doesn't matter, your laptop shipped with W7 anyway.

    2. Should I preform install while the battery is plugged in along with AC power of course ?
AC power+battery or just AC power, it doesn't matter
    3. I have just installed another 2xGB stick of ram, I orignally had only 2xGB, should preform install with only 2xGB of ram and Install the other stick after the installation ?
Doesn't matter but it might run a bit quicker with more ram
    4. Should put wireless on or off while installing ? (I have a wireless router with DHCP enabled) If you leave wireless on it will prompt you to set up your wireless network after installation but again it doesn't matter.
    5. Where to download orginal drivers and applications for my model SR55E/B?
The Sony website, i don't know where you purchased your laptop but the drivers should be available on the Sony website wherever you purchased your laptop seeing as your laptop came with W7 64bit.

You can though follow the install order for this model as at the top of the page it states-
Please install the following drivers and applications based on the download order.
Original Drivers and Applications for VGN-SR5 Series (Windows 7 64 Bit) : Sony Asia Pacific

You can also use the SR5 EU drivers and follow the order above and also just install the graphics drivers/wireless drivers that you need.
    VAIO : Sony Europe

    6. After installing windows should I install original drivers and applications first or check windows updates ? I would just install the Sony software first
    7. What is the correct order of drivers and applications installion in order to all the function works correctly ? (FN keys, switch mode, ...etc) See my reply to question 5
