    Dear all,
    I have a VAIO VGN-SZ55GN but I found out that I can't switch between speed/stamina mode.
I had had the intel graphic driver installed automatically after I'd installed a new OS onto the laptop but I can't get the nVidia driver to work.
I tried shutting down the laptop, moved the switch to speed and turned on the laptop again but I still can't get the laptop started up w/ nVidia graphic card. :(
    Any suggestion? Thank you.

    Best,
    Ayu

    hi Rachel,
    Thanks for the driver.
Currently my problem is: the system fails to detect a new hardware (no compatible hardware to the driver which I attempt to install) when I attempt to install the driver using the self-extractor.
I can't find any unrecognised device in device manager too (btw I saw 2 mobile interl(R) 965 express chipset family under display adapters, after switching on the " show hidden devices" in the view menu; none of them allow me to update w/ an nVidia driver)

What OS did you install and was it 32/64 bit?
May be you could try looking at some of the install guide threads and seeing if you followed the steps that you need to get everything working on your computer.

    Dear all,

    Just to update:
I'd installed the so-called "must install" VAIO applications in the following order but nothing works:
    1. Sony Utils DLL
    2. Sony Shared Library
    3. VAIO Event Service
    4. Setting Utility Series
    5. VAIO Control Center
    6. VAIO Power Management

    1. Sony Utils DLL
    2. Sony Shared Library
    3. Setting Utility Series
    4. VAIO Event Service
    5. VAIO Power Management
    6. VAIO Control Center

FYI I lost the restart prompt (for video switch position different from system running gfcard) after having the Sony Utils DLL installed; this application is not listed on VGN-SZ5 application download list and I wonder if I really need it....

Ok guys now I think I'd figured out what's lying behind the hardware switching things after some researches from other forums....

I'll tried the following methods and let you all know the result:
    1. Install both x64 graphics drivers available from Sony w/ the VAIO installed in correct order
Reason: It seems that Sony had had their drivers configured such that they include some switching mechanisms which normal drivers don't have.

    2. Use (and edit if required) the hybrid driver written by Dox from nVision forum (so far hardware switching is not yet available)

In case of installation fails, I'll probably have to make some modifications on the manufacturer drivers and see how it works (this is what I did to my Audio driver when I'm installing win2k3 x64)

    Best,
    Ayu
