What's the group consensus on the Splashtop browser? I think the "instant-on" value add it is supposed to bring is pretty much negated because the Z2's boot so quickly.

I didn't see a way to lower the screen brightness in the embedded browser either, so it may not save on power very much either. I didn't dig too deep, so correct me if I'm wrong.

Also, you can only use the WiFi or Ethernet port to gain access to the interwebs, so some of the utility is lost here too.

On the Z2, Splashtop is a big "meh" in my book. Am I missing something?

Granted, replacing the Splashtop stuffs with a proper linux distribution may be neat, but I'm not sure if it is doable.

If you don't know what Splashtop is, check here. To access it, touch the "Web" button while the machine is powered off.

Worthless, IMO. My SC boots in less than 25 seconds... and it is already is loaded with a fair amount of applications.

Agreed. I have a SA. Once you have a SSD, there's no need for Splashtop or instant web stuff because Windows bootup speed is quite fast anyways. Maybe useful for HDD based laptops.

I´m happy with that function - using this at special locations like puplic wlan networks could be safer than booting windows i think :)

I didn't use it when it came in with my SA and I didn't install it during the clean install process.
