Long time no chat folks. Sorry for dropping out, but my gizmo lust has to be satisfied. The new toys: 1 2. I also bought a house, but a gizmo it isn't.

    Anyhoo...

I am not able to see optical media on either of my PMD's (yes, I have two). Disk spins up fine, but I can't directly access the file system via Explorer.

Even more oddly, I can play Blueray and DVD movies through Power DVD.

I've uninstalled the system device, but the issue remains.

Short of doing a restore, I'm not sure what else to do. Ideas?

Sounds like upper/lower filter issue from some third party software. Google it, there's a registry fix.

It will be interesting to see how the A-77's sensor performs when stuffed in a NEX-7, the Z2 of digital cameras.

I'll give it a go, Beaups

Tried a Nex, no integrated flash and seemed laggy. Battery was really bad too.

The A77's display is insanely cool and the 2nd gen transparent mirror allows for rapid AF, even when shooting videos. It is pretty much shaking up the DSLR world. It will be interesting to see what the comp does to match it.

I should have purchased the a65, which is probably good enough for my needs, but that would be rational. My gizmo lust won't have any of that.

Don't worry. Your gizmo lust is completely under control. That's why you didn't get this with this.

    How is the note?
I was considering getting it but got the Nexus instead...
I am now waiting for my preordred PS Vita.

Nuked the keys from the registry and the issue persisted. I changed the drive letter in storage manager and it is fully accessible again.

Louche, that's just a "bit" spendy for me :)

The Note is great. Its friggin huge for a phone, but very small for a tablet. The weight is really good and it slips in a pocket just fine. If you have small hands, it may be hard to use. I'm 6' and have to do some balancing to use it with one hand. Typing is a joy on the thing. I don't have chubby fingers, but the keys are large enough where my typing accuracy and speed has improved.

The display is insanely good and it is very fast. Battery life is also great.

There aren't many custom ROM's available for it right now, but maybe it will get better when it launches in the US (the one I have is a Polish model). If the ATT model gets LTE, it will probably be the best device out there.

The SGN is a nice phone and I may be picking one up at Verizon tomorrow if for no other reason than to play with Ice Cream Sandwich.
