It's an issue I have to an extent with both the Z9 and X9 at the moment - although probably more with the X - but there's sometimes a sort of sticky 'clicking' when the keys are depressed which leads me to believe that some of the domes are not seated correctly. I have no idea how the domes are arranged for the Z11 - I'm presuming due to weight reasons it won't be a monolithic sheet, but a separate dome per key - but it is definitely happening on more than one key. Rapid typing doesn't seem to be an issue, but the audible feedback causes me to slow down typing.

I'm weighing up the pros and cons of returning the machines for replacements.

Anyone else coming across this issue? Or just me?

Sorry, buddy, but I haven't noticed anything like that with mine. Just to make sure I understand you correctly, are you saying that not all the keys respond (physically or audibly) the same, with certain keys responding differently?

Well, it's like the domes are 'sticking' - there's a sticky click after the key is depressed, when the key is returning. It doesn't happen on every key but one major one on my X is the Enter key. Fast typing doesn't seem to throw the key response, but I'm thrown because of the spurious, delayed audio feedback.

That's really weird...and sloppy workmanship. I suppose you could always type with headphones on . The trick in getting that repaired would be convincing Sony that's it's a defect worth repairing.

IMO, if it's interfering with your ability to use something as basic as the keyboard - especially the ENTER key (of all the keys) - you have to do something about it...whether that be requesting service or returning this one and buying a replacement.

Yeah - if it's just an assembly problem it's a first for Sony, at least for me, which lead me to think maybe it was a design issue.

I've had basic design flaws and fundamental build quality issues, but nothing stemming from what's probably after all a fairly obvious assembly error (which is, actually, pretty impressive for umpteen machines in 13 years). I'm just worried about the replacement lead time. Oh well, guess I should deal with it.

EDIT: Just as well I hadn't ripped all the stickers off yet like I normally do! :D
