I have the fw-390 with the 1920*1080 FULLHD.

The laptop is gorgeous but the font size on my texts is abnormally small. And when I go to websites everything seems to be just quite a bit smaller than normal. Does anyone know anything about this and how this can be fixed or is this how the FULLHD version comes? I only have 3 resolution options which is another turn off.

I have done that but it is still rather small... Do you think that ATI might release a driver update for the fw390's anytime soon?

its not a driver issue, thats just the way it is on a 1080p screen

two weeks now and this font problem still bugs me. Even my myspace and facebooks pages are too darn small. I might send this back for the eco screen. Anyone know much about that screen?

Ok, What is with the extreme small font on my new VGN-FW390...it's DRIVING ME CRAZY! I can't return because it is past the 30 days. Called tech support and after an hour they said it's probably the HD screen??? I'm not joking when I say microscopic. MQChef I am totally with you. I am young and have 20/20 vision so this isn't the prob. Every web page that I go to I have to...manually (let me repeat)...manually increase the font in the bottom right hand corner from 100% to 150%. Sony if your out there - why why why!? My suggestion is to save your money and DO NOT BUY THIS COMPUTER. Me, gotta love a 3k paperweight. :(

ps....It prints in 6pt font too! Typing a Word doc is impossible grrrr.

im currently using Z 1600x900 in 13.1"lcd. its need some time to get used to it. at first after booting the Z, trying out browsing the web, the fonts is so frickin small. but after days to days using it, im already get use to it.

im agree to you that viewing MS Word is so small, perhaps you have to change the zoom percentage to 150%? im fine with it and kinda helpful since im usually running both excel and words at same time, i put it side by side.

but if still its hurts your eyes, gotta change then.

    Change the DPI setting. Really.

In IE 8 or FF, Ctrl+scroll until you get the desired font size. The browser should remember (FF does for sure) the change so that when you visit that site again, everything will be readable.

BTW, I'm about to buy the FW with Full HD. Right now I'm using a 22" 1600x1050 monitor with large DPI setting (120) so I don't know how much of a shock the change will be.

God i love small text. I use a custom program called styleselector by hsiw to force all my windows fonts to be 25% smaller. I would love to have that screen

ECO screen's color is less rich and the brightness is about half of Full HD but it will solve your small font problem. This trade off is a product of Sony dumb marketing strategy  . They should offer both resolution 1600 and 1920 with equal color richness and equal brightness. Sony used to offer FW screen at 1600 with rich color and excellent brightness but they stop offering it since the release of FW2. Only FW1 offer such screen. At least that's the case in the US.

    PROBLEM SOLVED

Problem: The Full-HD resolution combined with such a small physical screen size on the Sony Vaio FW Laptop results in 'tiny' on-screen text.
    My Solution:
    1) Change the DPI setting in Windows to 125 DPI.
    2) Install the Firefox 'default full zoom level' add-on and set the default zoom level to ~130% to increase the size of web-pages.
    3) iTunes renders its own GUI (I think, don't quote me) so changing the Windows DPI setting will not increase the small iTunes text. However, you can change the font size in iTunes settings though Edit>Preferences... Source Text: Large, List Text: Large.

    Hope this helps :)
