The Sony E series from sonystyle can be configure very nicely but most of the options are not available. I'm looking for
    i5-520m (for vt-d)
    i5 hd graphics
    3gb ram
    dvd writer
720p screen (is there any difference from the full hd other than resolution?)

currently this config is not available and the sales rep told me that it hasnt been for atleast 10 days. Also that marketing havent given them an eta either. Does anyone have more details?

    Hi,

This configuration is not available from french sonytstyle because of the 720p screen (wich is the limiting element). Interestingly Canada CTO EB gives choice between i3-330, i5 540 and i7 620, maybe a new config coming with the october refresh.

Thanks Crus-T. By October refresh, do you mean that Sony usually updates their line of laptops around that time or you are hoping for a refresh soon?

The E series would work out very cheap if you could downgrade everything (usually with the i5-5xxm, you are forced to upgrade a whole bunch of other stuff). I'd rather perform the upgrades myself (£70 for a 500gb 7200rpm, no thanks) but I'm not sure if that will void the standard 2 year warranty
