So, I was worried that there was something wrong with my order, as I had yet to get a confirmation number. So, at 3pm, I called them, to check the order status.
Lo and behold, I found out that my order, save for my large capacity battery, was canceled, as the card was denied. This cannot be, I surmised. My account had enough money. The bank said that it appeared as though the card was run too many times, and it locked up.
Sigh. No matter. Ordering the first time was easy; re-ordering would be simple.
HA! The Gods, they laugh.
The woman taking the order, a very nice lady, did not reapply the discount I was originally given. She kind of flustered her way through the entire thing. She said they could not use the same order number, a fact that royally frustrated me, as I would lose my place in line, so to speak. I was supposed to have my item ship today or tomorrow (though that pesky "Backorder" thing would have wiped that out).
While she had me on hold, my entire account disappeared to her. She had to re-enter everything. Then she checked my email.
Now, I want you to see my user name here. It is comprised of my first initial and last name. I gave the woman yesterday this information. My email has that information as well...except, she put it with an N instead of an M.
How can this mistake be made? Honestly?
Anyway, the servers went down at Sony or something, while my order was being processed. So, the woman I spoke with today had to call me back, after my appointment at the gym. Fine...I needed the break anyway. After we got back together, she told me she had fixed my account, fixed my email, etc...and we finalized the order. Good. At least I would not have to worry now.
When I got the email for confirmation, I was happy, as it was done.
Yet, now that one mix-up happened, this is now on my mind. So, I checked my bank account, figuring that the amount has been dispensed from my account.
I figured wrong.
I have two amounts showing...one for about $530, one for about $830, both taken out by Sony. No part of either one of these amounts accounts for something I purchased.
Scratching my simmering head, I called Customer Service. The nice woman on the phone informed me of a few things:
1) My order status was "SHIPPED", as in, everything...I repeat, EVERYTHING...was either shipping tonight or tomorrow. This does not compute (and frustrates me slightly, as it may kill my free express shipping that I got for my troubles. I had bought two-day shipping yesterday, but, and I never do this, I asked for some kind of help on the shipping for the frustration. You get what you ask for, eh?)
2) I would not be able to log in to check my order status, as my email and "account" (for an email I don't own) cannot be merged.
3) She did not know what the deal was with the amounts, and would check in with finance.
I am supposed to call back later today to find out about the status of my order.
While the people I have interacted with are very nice and helpful, the truth is that this has been mishandled greatly. I am not a combative person, but sometimes I wish I were. I was heavily frustrated, and get the feeling that I am in for more this evening.

Sorry to read of your troubles. I hope Sony does right by you, in the end, and the Z's performance wipes away your unpleasant memories of this experience.

I know they have an automated order status line, so I called to check that out.
It's not exactly automated. It gets you your order number, but then puts you with customer support. This is not what I wanted.
Sigh...just hilarity. ; ) -
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.............
So, the shipment status has updated on the website. It says April 15th. So I've gone from 3/31 on my original order to 4/15 now.
I know, patience is a virtue. But today has been an absolute crock.
Now, I *have* been told that I'm first in the queue right now. That means, of course, that had my order gone through yesterday morning, the machine would be shipping right now. However, if machines arrive before the 15th (and I do have reason to believe that this will happen), then I'll get it before then.
Could someone be a kind soul, and PM me if they happen to notice the Signature Z come back in stock before then? This royally f's me up for school, but I'll get through that. -
I had the same problem. I ordered CTO 1190X and had the credit card problem and they called me about a week ago saying the order was cancelled due to the authorization problem. I called my bank and asked to clear out the problem. After that, everything was okay(according to the representative)
Ok, so the day has come.. ESTIMATED SHIPPING DATE : 3/30/10
However, my order was paid somehow so I called them AGAIN to ask why I wasn't charged. The lady told me that once the item gets shipped out, they will charge me. So I waited patiently... then suddenly got an email saying my order was cancelled due to the authorization.
WTH?? I called AGAIN(prolly this is 10th time I called) and asked what was going on. The lady said she couldn't do anything about this and told me that there are many customers who are going thru the same problem. SHOULDNT THEY DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS?!?!? A week ago they told me everything was fine, now I lose my order and have to wait for another 10 days till it gets shipped out? this is absurd.
I'm really frustrated, too. Sony can do better than this.
I really need a laptop to do my work, but this is really dragging me down.
The only reason why I need CTO is that I want Carbon color with extended battery.
Damn.. I hope that the shipping date changes soon(though it hardly will change)
