what a crap machine...i think it may be vista tho...it's less than a day old and after installing the usual software and removing most of the sony and aol junk, my screen's in the shutting down mode for the past 10mins.

Nothing. The first few times Vista shuts down takes a while, esp. after you install a lot of stuff. Vista's doing file management and update installs. It will also take a while to turn on after this.

Clean installation is where I'd start.
Sony ships it full of bloatware and it's just about impossible to get some of it out.

It will run a lot faster and have less problems if you start with a clean install.

This happened to me a few times too on the first day. Well, cleaning up some bloatware definitely helps to speed it up!

yea same thing happened to me the first day. I even altered the registry to make it shutdown quicker and it was still taking 10 mins to shutoff. But ever since then it shuts down fairly quickly.

No 32 bit OS can see it all. It will be able to access about 3.5 gb.
