    @bimap:
For me the two unknown devices were the extension pareser and the I/O control device...
Just go to "update driver" and point to the folder.

Camera: Device-manager -> Image device (something linke that) -> update Driver -> point to the folder...

Maybe this will help you too:

    WWAN:
WWAN somehow doesn't want to work... even after a recovery...
I have already contacted the customer support....

thanks dz2k and kesandal for helping, the 2 unknown devices are the parser and I/O, i followed the link that dz2k provided and downloaded the 2 driver for it, and it worked, now my device manager is allset, no missing any driver, but my S1, S2 still not working, i have no idea

The only problem i have left is the camera, i did what kesandal showed me above and still, this is how it look like

    S1, S2:
Did you followed exactly the steps written on the first page in this thread?
Did you disabled UAC (User Account Control)...
Made every restart windows wanted after the installation?

Camera: Do you have the VCC7?
Also please check if your camera work with other software like messenger / skype etc.

also, a crucial step i had to abide by is...when installing the utilities. (ex. Utils Installer 1 SonyUtils DLL, Utils Installer 2 Sony Shared Library, Utils Installer 2.5 Sony Video Shared Library 3.1.03)

    1) i restarted the laptop after each one was installed for my Fn and S1, S2 to work. call me crazy but it works!

i don't know my Fn work with the volume but not the brightness, but S1 and S2 are not working :(

i also tried webcam on Yahoo Messenger and it said "webcam not connected", i looked into device manager and there is no "Sony visual communication camera" in it like in kesandal's pix, i dont know why. :(

Under Imaging devices in Device manager, there is "USB video device" which i believe is the camera but i can't get it to work.

    @bimap:
Yes USB video device is the camera.

    VCC7 is the model-name.
If you have the option make a backup and recover your computer.
Then (in the original Vista x86) go to device manager and see if your camera is called VCC6,7,8....

    My SZ61WN/C has the VCC7.

look like i found the solution over here but.. still

According to this, i should have Felica port in Device manager so i can install the driver for it by locating to the Felica folder in the package, but i don't see it anywhere in device manager, and instead of sony visual communication camera, i have usb video device, everytime i locate to the camera folder to install the driver, it always says that the driver is up to date, im clueless :(

What happens if you deinstall the driver and let the computer reboot.
Then you should get a message "new device found... what to do?"

The Felica port didn't worked for me :(

i tried that too, i uninstall the usb video driver, it disappears at the moment, then i click on "scan for hardware changes" to see if it's gonna ask me for the driver, but it doesnt, it just automatically locate the driver and install itself :(

    hm... strange...
I would install a clean x64 vista and then directly try to install the driver.
    Maybe this will help.

yeah, i agree w/ kesandal. do another clean install of vista x64 and try again. maybe your S1/S2 will start working after that also. they started working for me after the notebook utilities were installed and i restarted the pc

hey bimap, i just purchased a sz6 laptop and and having the same issue(all blue screen when i open vaio camera utility thats says "no input") on a clean install of vista x64. i read some posts that said they got the standard "usb video" to work right off the bat w/ aol video or msn messenger. im going to test that out. I tried the have disk method, the separate camera file that kesendal provided btw.

    @kesendal
are you saying that you're opening vaio camera utility and you're able to view your self via your camera? or are you using another program like aol video?

@kesandal: thanks mane, i got the cam working on my vista x64 sz6 i bought last week! I also was able to get S1, S2, functions keys working! good luck on windows 7. i may get around to that one day.

@bimap just some tips on all the steps i took other than whats in the very first post of this thread. I used kesandals 4 part drivers thats on pg 5 of this post.

First, i looked at device manager and cleared all the exclamation marks. As far as installing the utilities..i started with sony shared library(restart), sonyutils(restart), sony video shared library(restart), vaio power management(restart), battery checker(restart), hdd protection(restart), setting utility(restart), battery care(restart), control center(restart), event service(restart), status monitor(restart), ps ql(restart), hardware diagnostics(restart).

on the video drivers: make sure in stamina..install intel driver and shutdown pc. next, move switch to speed and boot up, install nvidia driver and shutdown pc. now your vaio should be able to recognize you toggling the switch when inside windows and prompt you to restart if you do so in the future.

ok, i make you wait till last for the camera stuff.
first, do 'setup' in the vaio camera utility folder(it has version file called 2.0.01.02070 in it also)(restart).
Second, do setup in vaio camera capture utility folder(it has a version file called 2.3.00.15160 in it also)(restart)
last, go to device manager under imaging devices where it says the infamous 'usb video' and double click on it. go to the driver tab up top and then click 'update driver', select browse my computer option on bottom, select 'let me pick my driver' on bottom and finally 'have disk'. at this point, just go to the 8. Camera driver folder and there's only 1 file that you can select..it was R****.inf. after it installs, i restart again and whoila..working camera.

update: a camera only file is included in attachment. thanks goes to kesandal for it!!
note: you may not have to restart as much as i did but dont be mad if you dont get the results i did..lol.

Hey thanks for all the info guys. I've been trying to do this for a while and this thread single handedly made 64x possible for me. I just have one problem that I was wondering if you guys also have. My hd sensor is a little insensitive. When I go into the hdd protection utility there's 3 bars which show the accerlometer data, and they're not nearly as sensitive as they should be, and I the highest (most protective settings) are like 3 to 4 times the readout of a decent hit to my laptop. Thanks for the help!

It is an interesting experience as well :) I'm successfully running Win 7 x64 on SZ61XN. The only trouble I've got is finding a functioning version of Vaio Smart Network. All the different versions I tested were unable to start NSU service. At the same time I successfully run Smart Network on a Z21WN.

    Anybody get this problem solved?

Some Vista 64 drivers will work, but most that do, already have Win7 drivers.
Many of what you are looking for are actually OS independent.

Have a look in my sig, it might help you more.

As for the camera, that is a sore spot for 64bit.

I don't know if this post is still being read or not, but I need a little help with my webcam, if possible.

I have a SZ640 that I recently put windows 7 64-bit on. I was able to get everything working except for the webcam. I've everything suggested here and I just can't get it running. Does anyone have any suggestions for this particular model?

    Thanks

EDIT: Webcam was actually working with Skype, just wasn't working with the other program I was testing it with (which was a webcam testing webpage). However Something has happened now and all my sony programs have stopped working altogether. I think it may have something to do with downloading the sony updater program. looks like i'm starting from scratch.

Try the link in my signature, there is a link to webcams, one of which may work.

Win7 64bit drivers in my thread do not work with the original Sony webcam application, but there is an alternate offered by Sony that does.

Note that the driver will not auto install, you have to manually point to it through device manager, the guide tells how. Also included is the driver for the memory card reader.

After a clean install I was able to fix those problems. It seems like for some reason downloading that Vaio update program threw a wrench in everything.

One more question, if i could. The only thing not working is the microphone, do you happen to know how I can get that going?

Also, could someone clear up how exactly the graphics drivers work for me? When I switch over to speed mode, does it actually switch to a different graphics card/drivers? What are the drivers that speed mode should be running on?
    Thanks

If you check the guide it gets everything working like factory, except the WWAN and even that has been dealt with just not added into the first post.

Don't use the Sony Update (it wasn't meant for Win7 or 64 bit) or the Sony Win7 programs/drivers, they cause issues.

    Simple.
    You can't.

Well, you can, but it's a hassle.

You have two choices, no light and a webcam that works like you expect, or after each reboot, you can reload the stock 32bit driver and the light will work like normal... Until you reboot again. Personally, if you are concerned with spying (don't), disable the webcam in device manager.

    Thanks for your explanation.
I have last question regarding the nvidia.
I have installed the nvidia driver version 267 from your instruction. But when running windows equipment test I'm getting just 1.0 point fir the video adapter while standing on speed mode, and 3.1 points while being on speed mode.
Hope there is explanation for that.
