Will there be upcoming 11.6" notebooks being released soon? I was holding out for the YB, but specs and battery life have changed my mind. The 11.6" screen size is perfect for what I need, so I was hoping that there will be Sandy Bridge Vaios being announced soon.

It looks like the US market only gets the YB (AMD chips). The YA (Intel chips) seem to be for other markets.

I think probably in the summer the 11.6 YA will get Sandybridge. Sony sometimes seem to run a bit behind with the Y series.

Oh sorry I got confused. The Intel chipped YAs right now only have previous gen chips. Doesn't look like any Sandy Bridge one has been announced yet.

ok, thanks guys. i have some time to wait. i did like the form factor of the YB, so hopefully the YA gets here in the U.S. and that battery life is much better than the YB.

Considering that Sandy Bridge ULV is not out yet, and intel planned to release them 2H of this year, I am not optimistic we'll see a SB Ya before the holiday seasons, maybe not even this year.

I thought Sandy Bridge ULV was launched on 20th Feb with the rest of the SB dual cores?

The one I played with was an i5-2537m. Thought it was lv, not ulv - it's a 17w tdp according to arc. You are probably right considering it's 1.4/2.3 clock.

Really good topic - so, no tip on re-designing YA by this summer-autumn? Or any successor to VGN-TT?

I wish, since the screen on the TT has really spoiled me, and its hard to find another 11-13in machine(besides maybe the Z and a few tablets) with a great screen. I don't need more than what the SB IGP offers and would be content with a LV SB cpu, and maybe even ULV model(not i3 though). All I want is a Vaio TT like screen(even it is a little lower in quality I should be good), with 6 hour min battery life, and usb 3.0 in a 11-13in business model. It shouldn't be that hard. should it? Or is the Sony T line a rare exception that is dead?

i just checked out the TT.. nice design. i'd love for sony to come out with a new version of that but i could do without the optical drive to get it slimmer

I'd love too. Unfortunately, there is no info on tentative updates of TT as I see. No single point.
