I last week bought a new sony Viao E series and am thinking of upgrading to a 1tb HDD

Does anyone know whether the current 1tb drives (which are 12.5mm high rather than 9.2ish) will fit in this machine?

They more than likely won't fit into the caddy correctly.

There are few very few machine that will accept a 12.7mm drive. I would guess that the Sony is not one of them.
