hey guys, Im looking to purchase a laptop that has a WXGA 1280x800 screen and it says it supports 1080 full.
I just wanted to know if when I pop in a blu-ray movie (there is a full blu-ray player on the laptop), will it fully show at 1080p? by the way, the screen is 15.4"
I know 1920x1200 WUXGA fully supports up to 1080p, but I wanted to be sure this did as well.
thanks guys, and the forums look great.
by the way, here is the laptop I am talking about: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834117578
and here is the laptop I was originally going to get (the one that has WUXGA and full1080p), but I found the above laptop was much lighter and a lot less.

Welcome here!
1080p is 1920x1080 so the only way you can get the full 1080p Blu-ray with the according sound quality is linking it to a 1080i/p HDTV with an HDMI out. -
Since 1080p is 1920*1080 WXGA resolution shouldn't be capable of displaying it... by supporting perhaps it means if you hook it up to a WUXGA monitor or 1080p tv it will show it as this resolution?

That's probably what it means.
You'll still be able to get full 720p though (1280x768). That's the resolution many sub $1500 LCD panels offer. Many get screwed up thinking they get full HD but oh well, it's still HD. -
No, it will not display in 1080p, it will display(a movie) in max 720p.
The sticker is there probably because there is an optional WUXGA screen, or because it supports WUXGA if an external monitor is connected. It's just marketing.

It will downscale to a res that will fit your monitor. And you can get a WUXGA screen on a laptop - Dell Latitude D830. 15.4" WUXGA.

oh and, I heard that the difference between 720p and 1080p isnt that different when you have smaller monitors like mine and that it will actually look better than 1080i. is this true? thanks -
I just dont want to pay an extra 1,000 for the full 1080p laptop (which also ways 2 pounds more) and not appreciate it.
1280x800 1080p support?
