Hi I just got my Sony Z1290 today with the 128GB SSD option and now I feel like I should have paid the 300 more to get the 256GB. I am wondering if there is any way I can get 256GB of HDD space now. Either by going to Sony and getting an upgrade or walking into any computer store and asking them to switch the SSDs?

    Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

There is a very large thread on removing your DVDROM and putting in an aftermarket SSD. It is a much cheaper option and quite easy to do, take a look in this forum.

Its not easy or cheap to do unless you remove the ODD
http://forum.notebookreview.com/sony/511578-how-replace-ssd-vaio-vpcz11-vpcz12-non-sony-ssd.html has all the info, but you'd need to make sure you have Toshiba SSDs or you will need to buy the replacement cable, then you can use certain 1.8 inch SSDs but you will need to strip them out of their retail casing.
Or you can buy sony SSDs for a ridiculous price.
