What is the difference? I have never used 5 Ghz. nor did I see a difference in the network range capabality.......so what is the latter for?
Also, will using both network ranges reduce battery life if i'm out...
kthxbye

I think 5Ghz network is the Wireless N, wich increases range and speed over the G network (2Ghz).

anyone else?

The newer Draft N routers and cards can transmit on 2.4GHz and 5GHz, but only if you have a N router than can transmit on the both freq. simultaneouly and the card has to be able to receive both. At this time though, only a few can dual trasmit and the best also have dual radios.
N is backward compatible and will work with A/G. -
Check out the Networking sub-forum - lots of discussion on Draft N there. It seems that while the speed is there (if you have an N router and an N card in your PC), but the range for most people seems to be a little less.
2 Ghz. and 5 Ghz. Networks......
