Two questions I had regarding my Z that I would greatly appreciate getting answered:

    1. Recently I've noticed the battery life has been declining and the battery doesn't charge completely to what it is set to. (ex. 97% instead of 100%) Do I need a new battery? I am still under warranty.

    2. Is there anything I should do before installing Windows 7 Professional on my Z? I want to do a clean install instead of upgrading the current Vista Business. I have not made any back up discs and don't recall getting a drivers disc from Sony when I purchased the computer.

    Thanks!!

PS: Would it be safer to just upgrade to Windows 7 Professional to avoid driver issues?

    1) Well it depends how bad is the battery life. I'm not sure if the battery is part of the warranty in US, you should ask your local Sony support.

    2) Use this guide for your clean install and use the newest drivers you'll find for W7 on US support page. Choose the latest VGN - Z support page, as the first gen is not officially supported, but the drivers are the same. And don't forget to upgrade your BIOS version to the latest R2171M3 first!

    Good luck,
    eM :)
