    1. I close my lid and my laptop is set to sleep. well it does...but randomly turns on sometimes again and my fan starts working. this worries me alot because i sometimes am in a rush and have to close the lid and stuff my laptop in my bag and im afraid it will wake on its own and the fan will begin working inside my bag..

    2. 4 times already (only 3rd day of laptop usage) I awake the laptop from hibernation and it gives me an error "windows recovered from an unexpected shutdown. Reason: Blue Screen" Well...I don't get how because it hibernated normally and awoke from hibernation as any other laptop would... I didn't see any blue screen.

any ideas? Vista Home premium SP1 fully updated.

this has happened to me on 2 vista laptops already!!! and my friend complains of similar issues.

p.s. i posted this in the OS forum as well, but perhaps specifically, fellow VAIO users experience this and perhaps is related to VAIO software and not general OS.

Uhm, I've gotten this sometimes with my SR.

Sometimes I'll close the lid, and after about 20 mins or so, it'll go to sleep. So either it'll come back from sleep just fine, or it won't bring the screen back at all, no matter what I do. (Pushing buttons, clicking, touchpad, etc) So it's kind of emergency hit the power button kinda thing, then it comes back and tells me it was improperly shut down, blah.

Then if I try to hibernate it myself, sometimes it'll act like it came back from hibernation, but then give me the black screen thing similar to the Sleep mode twitch. It doesn't happen all that much, but it does happen. It hasn't done anything super bad... at least I hope not. I just decide to shut it off and deal with turning it on (It's not that much of a wait).

well i have resorted to shut down completely as well... but then the VAIO battery drain issue is pissing me off as well.

it's a lose lose situation... and im getting sick of this... this is SP1 and there is still issues...this drain issue has been going on for a while now and it still exists with these new laptops..

Hmm, I think I do understand what you mean and how you would be distressed by it. The battery life is much more of a necessity for you at college than mine is for now. Hm, but it is very annoying too.

I wish that Hibernate would work, it would be much more convenient, but it doesn't seem to like the Vaios... perhaps.

Sony really needs to figure out what is wrong with whatever they are doing in terms of this battery drain or faulty battery thing... They've had to eat profits before due to battery problems (Exploding laptops, anyone?)

Hope this helps...The issue with going to sleep may be with an application or such. On my laptop both steam and some video drivers keep my laptop awake, or re-awake automatically after being set to sleep. Could be a background app. Good luck.

If you have a CD in the drive, it will sometimes do a random run, so either take it out...or power down the cd-drive. Also, turn off the wifi radio...before you put it to sleep. Mine did this several times when i had disks in the drive...so power it down or take out the disk. Mine hasnt done it since...

    Good luck!
