Hello if someone can help. I did search and still had some questions.
I believe someone stated the vaio 15.5 s series . The ram 4gb ram that is fixed is it 1.35 volt or 1.5 volt? Someone who has can you tell me .
Also if I can get a crucial 8gb ram. for about same price which one should I get. Is it better to get the matching 1333mhz and cl9 or is it ok to get the upgraded 1600mhz CL11??
Please help thanks
1. 1.35 volt..DDR3 1333 MHz CL9
2. 1.35 volt 1600 mhz CL11

The timing should be kept the same at CL9.
The 4GB ram soldered onto the board is basically 1.35v Cl9
It apparently does not matter if you are using 1.35V or 1.5V according to some threads on this forum.
The speed of the ram should not matter as it will be limited by the slower on-board ram.
A suitable ram for you would be:
If you want to add 8GB which will give you 12GB in total:
8GB, 204-pin SODIMM, DDR3 PC3-10600 upgrades for Apple MacBook Pro 2.2GHz Intel Quad-Core i7 (15-inch DDR3) Late-2011 Laptop/Notebook, CT2625465 from Crucial.com
Or if you want another 4GB stick to give 8GB in total:
4GB, 204-pin SODIMM, DDR3 PC3-10600 upgrades for Apple MacBook Pro 2.2GHz Intel Quad-Core i7 (15-inch DDR3) Late-2011 Laptop/Notebook, CT2607221 from Crucial.com
I know it is ram for the macbook pro but it should work on your sony vaio too, as it is DDR3, 1.35v and CL9
Alternatively you could always run the system scanner on crucial. -
I have the S13P and I think the RAM is the same as the S15. the soldered on RAM is 1.35v 1333mhz.
Go with the 1333mhz as the 1600 would be underclocked to match that on the motherboard and the 1333 has better cas latency -
So it is not advisable to get the 1600 and CL11. Will it not work? Anyways, Thanks for the replies.
