i just received my 15.5" 3612 QM, 4gb ram notebook, nvidia 640 le 2gb. I have a question. My windows index score is coming out 4.6.

Graphics desktops performance for windows aero..is only coming out 4.6 and it seems everyone else has been getting higher numbers. I reran the index but still coming out with 4.6. I ran a search but the search doesn't not seem to work on this site.

    Processor. 7.5
    ram. 5.9
    graphics 4.6
    gaming graphics 6.8
    hard disk. 5.9

Can someone with the same setup tell me your scores and why mine is low?

Is the graphics switch on Stamina or Speed? Speed activates the 640M LE. Stamina uses the intel integrated graphics.

It is on speed mode and I have the nvidia 640 le 2gb. the strange thing is that on speed mode it shows 4.6 and on stamina shows 4.9. I retested couple times.

    Strange.

Does the ram have an effect on the score for graphics aero?

How much ram do you have shorty66?

i only have the standard 4gb and was going to install another 8gb later.

    thanks

    Hi all,

Shorty66, can you run 3D mark 06 in your Vaio S15 all in default settings (1280x1024)? Or maybe you have already run it and you remember your score :). I'm very interesting about buying this configuration. (i5/8Go/Full HD IPS)

I see in the configuration option that you can choose between a NVidia 640M 1Gb and a NVidia 640M LE 2 Gb.
The 640M is really a 640M? Or is a 640 M LE with only 1Gb? Because 640M is better than 640M LE. The 640M LE is just the same that 640M but with lower clock.

    Thanks you in advance! :)

My S13A shows similar values - 4.7 graphics and 6.7 gaming graphics, even when on Speed mode. Doesn't appear to affect anything in real world use though.

I'm using the officlal Sony drivers - others with higher scores may be using the modded Nvidia drivers which may kick in more readily.

Someone has to do this whenever we get sucked in by that unreliable, inconsistent benchmark know as the WEI:

it is an unreliable and inconsistent benchmark tool. :)

    Thanks you Shorty66!

I have an other question. Is it difficult to install official NVidia Driver rather than Sony driver? Because i will probably (if the temperature of the SVS15 allow me to do that) overclock the core clock and memory clock of the 640M LE. And i read that it's only possible with NVidia Driver and MSI Afterburner software.

Don't worry about me, i know what i do. I'm an software engineer and i have already overclock some desktop computer. I know that it may be risked to overclock laptop but don't worry, i know what i do.

Someone can tell me the temperature of the CPU and GPU in idle mode and after gaming (30 minutes) of the Sony Vaio SVS15?

    Thanks everybody for your answers

Open the nvidia control panel, click the "manage 3d settings" tab on the left.

Then select the program settings tab. Click the "add" button and select winsat.exe (it's located in C:\windows\system32).

set the preferred graphics card to the "high performance nvidia processor"

This will force the windows system assessment tool (winsat) to use the nvidia gpu and you should get in the mid 6's for both graphics results.

When I got my VAIO it was 5.9, but then installed clean Windows 7, I got 4.9, I guess it's low.
    I'm using VAIO S15 (Core i7, RAM 12GB, Nvidia 2GB).
