I'm considering upgrading to a 320GB/7200rpm drive. I've read quite a lot of people being bothered by noise and vibration with these hard drives. I'm wondering how the Z will take it.

I've noticed the Z is very light and I already feel the 5400rpm drive a bit. Does the vibration or noise become stronger with a 320GB/7200rpm drive?

I think I will buy a Seagate 7200.3. Can any Z owners tell me how they rate the noise and vibration?

    Hi, (sorry for my english)

I'm in the same case that you, I have a Z11WN/B (French model) and I intend to put a 320GB 7200rpm except that I do not know if I includes a WDSB as I did for my SZ or if I try Seagate.

The WDSB 320GB 7200RPM who was in my SZ was very quiet and there was no vibration.

I had the Z with 320gb 5400rpm (density argument had won me) I felt no vibration, noise was minimal at best under conditions like installing vista/defrag..

My next Z will HAVE a SSD thats for sure, I just LOVE the instant boot time lol
