Hi. Ive just purchased a Vaio VPC-F12M0E/B, which comes preinstalled with windvd. From looking at the Corel site, it appears that 3d support was added in service pack 4, however, none of the service packs on the site work with the preinstalled version. I have updated to the latest Sony version (10.0.5.538), but cannot see any 3d options. Does anyone know a way around this, without having to purchase a separate copy? Thanks.

I don't think the software Sony packaged with the F series supports 3d bluray playback.
And why do you want to play 3d bluray movies ? Do you have a 3d monitor or 3dtv?
If you do then yes you will have to get another program to play 3d bluray - I recommend Power Dvd 10 ultra 3d mark ||. Its the best 3d bluray software

The F series (or any series) screen, if i'm not mistaken, is not 120hz, so not 3D compatible. AFAIK

As far as outputting the 3D Blu-Ray to a 3DTV, I do not think that is possible either, the HDMI in the F not being HDMI 1.4 Compliant. Again, AFAIK.

    Cheers.

3D will work if you connect it to an 3D TV. Most online websites say HDMI1.3 has support for 3D bluray, although only at half the resolution, so quality won't be optimal but it will work.

Thanks for all the replies. Yes, I have a 3d tv but dont have a standalone 3d blu-ray player. I just assumed that the hdmi port would be 1.4 - what a disappointment. How would I be able to check whether the picture I see is half or full resolution?

Edit: it appears we need NVIDIA 3DTV Play Software, which hasn't been released as a standalone software product yet. What a let down.

I am not sure but I think Power DVD 10 ultra mark || has support for output to a 3dtv. You might wanna try that out :)

I have, but I get a message saying that it cant detect the 3dtv. This is because you need the nvidia 3dtv play software, which is basically an add-on driver for the graphics card, and nvidia havent made this available yet (it was scheduled for October release, but there have been no updates since that deadline passed) - only dell xps laptops come bundled with the software.

Edit: To be clear, I can watch the blu-ray in 2d on my tv, its just that it isn't being detected as a 3d tv
