Ok I have two issues.
1. My Vaio VGN-S270P is having a slow death. About six weeks ago things started slowing down. Every time I type something or open a new explorer window it takes 3 to 5 seconds to open. Especially annoying when I'm typing right now because I don't see the letters for a second or two. Also, I can forget playing any games or watching videos/movies.
I have reinstalled the video driver and restored to the beginning the XP Operating system. It didn't help. I then went to plan B using my Extended Warranty Accidental Care Insurance which started the second issue ->
2. So I call the Extended Warranty people. Everything started out fine and w/ no aggrevation. She transfered me to a tech. I went over the symptons and he said my motherboard/video chip would have to be replaced. A tech would call me in 72 hours or at the end of business day on Thurs. (it was mon). wait wait wait. On Thurs. at 4:30pm I figure I'm not going to get a phone call so I call them. And she says well it's not the end of the business day. But I explained to her that I don't have the confidence that someone is going to ACTUALLY call me in 30 min and I wanted to talk to someone before an office closed. She then said they have my info and someone would call in 24 hours. On Friday no call so I call again at 4:30pm same thing but I got a "floor superviser" and she said she will send it to a tech that she works with and he would definetly call me on Mon. (so nothing over the weekend obviously). But she understand my frusteration. So on Monday I actually get a phone call from the Tech to say that the part is on back order and there is no ETA when it will arrive. It is showing that it is being made he thinks but it defintely does say its backordered. But if it's not in w/ in 60 days Sony will probably give me a new/different computer. grrrrrrrrr![]()
Ok I know this an old laptop after 3.5 years and I have never had any problems with it.(I'm greatful) I could just go buy a new laptop which I'm seriously tempted to but I did give them $375 for a 4 year accidental insurance and my warranty is not up yet.
So, any suggestions??????????????

read the terms of your extended warranty and see what they are obligated to do, and hold them to it. 60 days seems extreme to be without a working computer.
if they don't cooperate, contact the BBB. -
Here's what its says:
10. UNAVAILABILITY OF FUNCTIONAL PARTS OR TECHINICAL INFORMATION. If We Determine that We are unable to repair Your equipment due to the unavailability of functional parts, service or tecnical information, You are entitled to a comparable equipment replacement. In all cases, We will determine equipment comparability. We reserve the right to offer reimbursement for the current market value of the equipment, less claims made, in lieu of serivce or replacement of the equipment. In all cases where parts or technical information are on extended backorder, We will determine if a replacement or reimbursement will be made. All contractual obligations are fulfilled upon product replacement, reimbursement or contract term expiration. -
Do you have any hardware diagnostic tools at your disposal? If reinstalling the OS doesn't clear up the issue then there might be a hardware issue.

UPDATE: Sony came out replaced the motherboard. My computer isn't crashing w/ the blue screen of death but I'm not conviced everything is ok. I still have six more month on my warranty so I think I can hold out until then.
