I have a vaio F with F GT310M. How can I take 5.1 audio output from my laptop? Does vaio have a sound card?

Dude, does the F has HDMI?
If it does, try using it attached to a nice receiver and voila, digital 5.1 with all clarity u need

Very true answer. HDMI can carry up to 7.1 in pure uncompressed bitsream. (Dolby TrueHD & DTS HD-MA) Although if it's like some other notebooks I have, it might have an optical connection combined with the 3.5mm headphone jack. Some do, some don't. Other than that, USB is the way to go.

Thanks for the replies. Vaio F has HDMI port. But it has only two jacks (one being headphone/optical out and the other being mic).
Is it necessary that I need a receiver to take HDMI audio? A 5.1 with HDMI input port would be enough to get true 5.1 sound, right?
