Amazon reviews for it are interesting, to say the least.

Check Slickdeals often. Dell was selling a 650GB external 2.5" HDD a couple days ago for 49 bones, free shipping.
Although I don't know the details of you 500Gig drive.

What terrible reviews? Out of 34 reviews, 27 gave it the highest rating. Since people are much more likely to write complaints then praise, that would be good.

Also, why do you think it requires 2 usb ports? It does come with a 2 usb port cable, most of these drives do. But that is mainly meant for laptops that have weak power supplied at the USB ports, aka MacBooks. For use as a DVD replacement drive on a Z11, that doesn't even matter.

    Anyways, too late now.

The reviews I read said it needed two USB ports (Amazon reviews).

It was on the slickdeals front page, which is for the best deals available at the time. When I went back, it had been pulled.

Thanks for the info, but this doesn't seem like a deal that's too good to be true.

Man it was. I just got my order confirmation. Instead of shipping me the old CF drives like I ordered, they are shipping me the new X series drives. So I paid for the old stuff and they are giving me the new stuff. :)
