    Hi everyone,
I'm thinking of swapping my 5400rpm hd to hitachi 7k200 100gb.
I heard that 7k200 is the best notebook hd. My only concern is the battery life. is it that bad with 7200rpm hd?
my TZ has 5400rpm hd and it's loud. First I thought it was the fan but later I found out that it is the hd.
any other brand I should look into??? Thanks

Are you looking for mainly speed, or mainly capacity, or a mixture of both?

Well, here is screenshot form mobile hdds test, this shows power consumption. There is a bit older 7k100 but i think there is not going to be huge differences.. It has almost the same power consumption as 5400rpm drives so author wrote "The battery life will be at least the same, or even better because 7200rpm needs to spin for a shorter time to make the same operation as 5400rpm drive".

I had a 7K200 drive in my TZ. It ran great and battery life didn't really seem to change from the stock drive. The performance difference was very noticeable.
