How is the common heat range on it (one of my primary concerns about the HP dv5t)?

Also, are there any good coupons or deals floating around for it (primarily interested in a CTO)?

Thanks to anyone that can help.

Mine stays cool -- just a bit of warmth noticable after its been on your lap for awhile. CPU temps just surfing the web, etc, stay in the 30 to 39 C range. If you run a graphically intense game the vent area on the left side can get quite hot.

As I mentioned in the FW owners thread it seems like my fan is running more often than I would like. It's bacically always going. I'm wondering if it's due to the ATI card since the CPU temp is low... I kind of wish I ordered it with the Intel graphics instead.

My fan isn't running at all though I have yet to play some intensive game on my super ultra neato FW

After a fair amount of time of moderate usage, the area under my right hand gets slightly warm then eventually cools down.

hmm ... how hot relative to other laptops? Like, will it approach dangerous heat levels, or will it have no effects on performance (just gets a bit hot and that's it)?

I would bet that the engineering done at Sony regarding heating and cooling issues - among many other things - is much better than most.

Additionally, I think "laptop technology" in general has come along way by leaps and bounds and solutions to longstanding problems have either been adressed already or become increasingly more refined over time.

In other words, I can't imagine you will have overheating problems with an FW unless you are playing high-end games 24/7 for months on end.

    :)

    Thanks :)

One last question: how is the standard battery vs the extended battery?
