I'm buying the SZ160 with AMEX so the original 1 year warranty will be extended to two years. Sony also sells a two year accidental warranty for $199, is it worth it, does it cover everything? I mean do you get any faster or better service when you purchase an extended warranty? Also are the warranty's transferrable if I decide to sell it down the road?

If you paid for your laptop with an AMEX card you automatically got your original warranty extended for one year under the AMEX Buyers Assurance Program, just keep your receipt. This is only for the "original" warranty, any extended warranty you might purchase is not covered by the AMEX BAP.

Is the Buyer Assurance Program on a fee basis from AMEX? Where can I activate this extra one year warranty? And do I go to Sony, or AMEX? Any links to more info ?

    Thanks.

I saw someone here mention that Sony's Accidental Damage Plan did not cover what they consider "cosmetic" damage, i.e. if you cracked your case but the notebook was still functional they won't repair it.
