Just got my 13 inch S series two weeks ago and I am fairly happy with it. Except for a couple of annoying glitches:
1. I use an external Logitech mouse. Haven't installed the dedicated Logitech drivers, I let Win7 handle it. Every now and then the scroll would revert down to 1 line per scroll instead of the 10 that I want. I have used this mouse on a Win 7 before (Asus machine) and had no such issues. Anyone else ran into a similar problem?
2. Even though I have turned off the brightness auto-adjust from the Vaio control center, it still auto-adjusts when on battery and Stamina mode. Ideas?

Just a guess, but apart from Vaio Control Center, also Windows tries to control everything in its power plans. If you go to your power plan, select 'Advance' then you can check each entry in the power plan. Maybe there is also something regarding auto-adjusting.

Same here, its quite annoying. Make sure you change the settings for the mouse itself and not the touchpad "wheel" settings. That seems to have done the trick for me for the last week or so.
(I posted in another thread about getting a solution to this but maybe its just a flaw in the sony hardware/software. When you plug in headphones then change the volume, then remove the headphones, does the volume change back to what it was before headphones were in? This, I believe is a feature of windows but it doesn't work on my Vaio S) -
to awnser your number 2 question.
You have 2 dirfrent settings for when your plugged and unplugged in windows.
So just go to your energy settings and you will have a seperate slider depending on if your charging or not. -
Also, the Intel GPU drivers will try to adjust the backlight, by default, too. Disable that in the Intel Graphics driver panel.

Ahhh...didn't think to look on the Intel panel. I will do that.
As for the mouse scroll - I find that it reverts back to one every time I make any change in the Vaio Control Center. Hopefully they will update it and fix the issue. -
Great advice, and I'm glad I found this board. I've been having the same problem too with the autoadjust on my brand new Vaio. I've disabled it in the Vaio control panel, but how do I tinker with the Intel side of things to stop the brightness autoadjusting? I should add, I'm a relative-luddite (at least I suspect I am!). Any help/instructions would be much appreciated
Thank you thank you thank you,
Owly. -
Owly, open the control panel and look for Intel Graphics and Media. That solved it for me.
Meanwhile, the problem with the scroll going back to 1 line per turn remains.
A couple of interesting problems with a S series
