Hi all,
Firstly, a big thanks to the hard work of all the people in this forum - it really helped when I was investigating what laptop to purchase, and I settled on the F12.
Now to my questions - the main one is that initially, after beginning to set up the pc, I was getting multiple BSODs (possibly my own fault - multiple AV installed). Regardless, I recovered to factory settings via Vaio Care and have now fully set it up as I wanted. However, prior to the recovery, I was able to use Vaio Update and receive updates for several of the Sony utilites (which I installed). Now (following the recovery), it cannot find any updates for any of the installed programs by Sony. Does this mean a) that the pc kept the updates for the sony software, and no new updates have been released since then, or b) that something is now wrong with Vaio Update? In the second case, is there a way to repair Vaio Update, or should I not be particularly bothered if it can't update itself and other Sony progs?
The second thing is a more general query, but I thought I'd ask here in case it just needed a quick response rather than a new thread - I used to use a program called ChemBioOffice on my old pc (Win XP), but now having Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit is problematic as ChemBioOffice is only developed as a 32-bit app (Win 7 compatible). So, is it going to screw up my pc if I try and run it? Will it run/install at all? And (thirdly) would it be worth installing XP mode to see if it may work in there?
Thanks again for all your help!
A couple of questions
