Try rubbing it gently with a microfiber cloth first.

Not sure of Sony's policy, but it's unlikely that they'll take a return just for that.

After that, try some voodoo magic, that might help.

I hate dead/stuck pixels.. are u sure its a dead pixel? If its dead it will show up as black under any color meaning its dead and wont charge up to any other colors. And dead pixels cant be fixed. only jscreen fix might bring it back to life but its a very very low percentage but you can give it a try. Just go to www.jscreenfix.com or google it up. But if its one color that's always stuck on that could be fixed and has a 70% with the same jscreenfix program.

Personally I've tried it on one of my monitors with 1 white stuck pixel but it never worked even after leaving it running overnight. But other people are claiming that it works after keeping it on overnight or running it for hours and try to rub it with a damped cloth while running it.

Oh, please! You are kidding right? Rub it with a damp cloth? I just spewed diet coke on my monitor when I read that part. Up to then, your were spot on and I agree that some folks have had luck with jscreenfix. But how is rubbing with a damp cloth going to do a thing? There is a sheet of glass over the entire display. That part is PURE unadulterated voodoo.

I used this software to check for dead pixels http://www.laptopshowcase.co.uk/downloads.php?id=1. It was there!!!
Anyone knows if dead pixels can form progressively, or the number was there since the manufacture will not increase?
I heard some laptop companies accept a return for one dead pixel. I am not sure about sony!!!

I'll say this again; I do not know what Sony's policy is. You'd have to call them up and ask them. If you yell long enough, they might do something. I was going off of other companies' policies when I said that it was unlikely; Asus is the only company that guarantees no dead pixels, I think. The rest make you buy a special warranty.

Hey i'm just stating what other are saying. But I did have a dell latitude 3 years ago did have a red stuck pixel but when I pressed down on it and rubbed it did go away but came back but then I gave it a lil flick and it was gone and never saw it again. Also this happened on my sony ericsson w950i as well red stuck pixel rubbed it and it just kept dissappearing and coming back but eventually it went away.

OK, I get it now... So the damp part is to provide some "lubrication" so you don't scratch the screen. I dug around and saw several sites recommending the "screen massage" technique. I can see where that could indeed fix certain issues, but man you'd need to be REALLY careful about the type of cloth and make damn sure the screen and cloth were VERY VERY clean, lest you wind up with nice little circular scratches.

It can help remove dust, I suppose. :) I know this is a small sample size, but out of a dozen or so malfunctioning pixels I've seen on three different displays, nothing helped them, not rubbing, not "screen fix" programs, nothing.

complain to sony saying that you have OCD and you cannot live with 1 dead pixel, and you do graphic designing and it's imperative your screen be immaculate. you paid 2 k for your laptop, not them.

Mine has a tiny grey spot near the right bottom edge of the lcd. Is this normal? I think it's uneven backlighting.

ehh~ 1 stuck/dead pixel aint bad, even if you have a perfect screen or just 1 dead/stuck pixels, it doesnt matter because its all in your head you dont even see that 1 dead/stuck pixel 100% of the time when your actually using your laptop and that one tiny pixel wont bother you for doing graphics work either, long as the colors right.

Ok. I shipped my PC back to sony today.
This is to share the following information:
Previously, I have asked if recovery DVDs prepared by the owner will be able to restore the whole pc drive including a deleted hidden partition.
My pc was bought with Japanese software. I did remove the hidden partition, partition the derive exactly to C (40 GB) and D (160 GB) and install English version of Vista. Now, before shipping back I did recovery using Japanese recovery DVDs. After recovery, I observed the following:
    1. No partitions C and D any more, but only one big partition (C), in which the software was recovered.
    2. Interestingly, there is again a hidden partition and has the same previous size in GB. For now, I don,t know if this hidden partition is functional or not. Any volunteer to answer this?

Theres very very little percentage or chance that you will develop more dead/stuck pixels over time. Usually dead/stuck pixels only come around when the lcd is manufactured and will never know if the lcd has it or not unless you fire it up. So the answer is pretty much you wont get new dead/stuck pixels.

Finally today I received back my FZ laptop from Sony. I requested an LCD replacement (one dead pixel) and they did... I was very anxious when I screened the new LCD. No defective pixels are there anymore :) :) :) :)
I also checked the camera and the microphone, which should have been replaced together with the LCD, and they also work perfect. This is my first ever use of sony's customer support and I just have to say that it works perfect inside Japan :) :)

Sony policy regarding dead pixel is ok!! even if you have 1 Dead pixel in your LCD as long as the comp is still in warranty there will to replace it just call there support number 1-888-476-6972 ( US ) . I have a friend who works with sony So Im aware of some of there policy.

The Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) contains over 480,000 picture elements (pixels) for a Super Video Graphics Array (SVGA) display, and over 780,000 pixels for an Extended Graphics Array (XGA) display.

High precision technology is used to manufacture these LCD displays to maintain a high standard of operation. In all LCD panels, however, there may be a small number of pixels that do not change color. This is a normal occurrence for all LCD displays from all manufacturers. Most defects are noticeable only while the computer is starting or on an all white or all black screen and should not be noticeable under normal operation.

Since the occurrence of a defective pixel or pixels is normal on all LCDs, a replacement LCD will likely exhibit the same characteristics and could potentially have a greater number of defective pixels, or have those pixels appear in a more noticeable position than on the display it is replacing

    Dear Babydarklord,
Do you know if dead pixels will develop by time?

For now, I spent really enough time using pixel buddy and eye-screening my new LCD in all colours without seeing any dead or stuck pixels and I am happy for that :) :) . I still remember where that stupid dead pixel in my old screen was.
