Hi all!
I just bought my new Sony Vaio SZ330P in the US.
I live in Italy, I'm Italian and in my country this notebook model is obviously unknown. We are in the prehistory!!!!!![]()
First of all, I would like to register my notebook at this web site to get full support and warranty.
There's only one problem: I can't register on the US Sony site because Italy isn't in the country list (combo box shows only the USA list).
If I'm not an US citizen, I can't register my product there.
OK... But, let's go on...
I went to Italian Sony website in the registration section.
Well, now I can't register my wonderful SZ330P because model number isn't obviously recognized by italian site.
Is there some alternative procedure to get my Vaio notebook registered?
I have another question about a similar problem with American web site.
I'd like to buy a new bag for my 13" notebook.
The only problem is that they can't ship to Italy.. And in the italian website they don't sale that bag.
What are your advices????
Thank you very much in advance,
Flavio

Try customer service and contact sony through e-mail.
They respond quite well.
You can also buy mac-book cases. So any stores that sell mac cases might ship to Italy. Or you can try online auction such as ebay.com. I would do a search on italian sites for mac-book cases. They are the same size as a Sony one. Good Luck. -
Just register it on the US website. You do not need to be a US Citizen. You do not even need a US address. Just fit your Italian address in the boxes. I have done this before. It works. The registration and service is not limited to US only. The issue you will have is getting the computer serviced. Then you will be doing a lot of talking to Sony to get them to service it in Europe. They will, but they will not like it. It will take effort.

OK!!!! thank you so much.
I'll try again to register my sz330p on the US Sony web site.
For the bag, I'll see at the eBay store.
I have also a new question. I'm a Linux user, and I don't care about windows installed on my vaio. I didn't know the reason why there was a disk partition called "EISA" on my hard drive. To gain disk space I deleted it. Even though I'm going to completely remove windows from my notebook, I want to ask you if there's some way to get recovery DVD.
I saw the DVD is on sale at the sony shop site, but shipping is only for the USA.
When I was owner of a Sony Vaio PCG-FX210 I found this ftp site containing many utilities and software. Can I get something similar for my SZ330P ?
Thank You again.
EDIT: I can't register my vaio because it wants a State to be selected from the combo box. I can't select a state if I live in Rome!!!!
EDIT: I cant' send an email to Sony support because they want I fit all fields expecially as regard State. I can't select a casual value in the combo box. -
I would seriously use a friends address or the address of the store that you bought it at or your hotel. Your address does not matter. They will correspond with you via email. If they bring up your "state" later, tell them that you are no longer in California or wherever. I move all of the time and cannot remember where I registered most of my computers. When you need service just update them over the phone.

Well I would only use Ebay if you can't find it anywhere else. Use an Italian shopping search engine for it first. (macbook computer case)
Ebay sellers might charge you a lot for shipping to Italy (if they are even willing to). -
Ok So I was bored...
Looks like
http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/italystore/
Has an italian site... So I am sure they will ship to you.
If you look under Mac Accessories on the left there is a 13" computer case. There are different versions also. And they do not say Apple on it (the Brand is Incase), so you wont have to worry about having the Apple branding. -
OK, thank you so much.
I don't like macbook bags very much.
I will find somewhere else.
BTW: I used the chat function on the sony support site, the were very helpful..
They said to go to www.sony.net, but I'm not yet registered!!!!
