Hi, I hope this is the right place to put this thread but I couldnt see anywhere that looked more appropriate.

I was wondering if I could just ask a few questions about the Sony Vaio CA series laptops, specifically the VPCCA2C5EX model

    1) what is the screen like? its the 1600X900 version, is this nice to use? because I have read alot of complaints about the lower resolution screen.

    2) Whats the keyboard like to use? would it be nice for a student expecting to spend way too much time writing essays?

    3) whats the build quality like? does it feel tough and durable? do you think that if I was careful it could last me more then 2 years?

    4) I have read some complaints about heat issues and noise on some other vaio models, are these present in this model? does the laptop get very hot and very noisy? does it get like this even if only browsing the internet and typing in world?

5)realistically what is everyone get out of their battery when only watching a film or typing in world?

    6) slightly random but what is the manufacturer of the 500gig 5200rpm and the 500gig 7200rpm HDDs?

Sorry, I know this is a lot of questions - thank you for any help with any of them

    Thanks!

    1) Screen is nice, it's higher res than other screens which mean you can fit more on the screen, but it's not as good a panel as the Vaio Z. (should be better than any of the other run-of-the-mill 720p panels)

    2) keyboard is chicklet style which mean they're flat and the edges are straight down into the tray (as opposed to island style where they taper off into the key next to it and cause a ton of mistakes) so they're pretty nice to type on (less mistakes, IMHO). Also it's backlit, for low-light situations (seriously, once you go backlit, you cant go back)

    3) i can't really speak for that as I don't actually own one (try the Vaio CA owner's thread) but I told my friend to pick one up.

    4) I can't really speak for how hot it'll be under load, but i'm pretty sure it doesn't get hot under regular surfing/word processing (my friend hasn't shouted at me yet *knock on wood*)

    5) I'd say 4 hours. that's what my friend gets

    7) (what happened to 6???) no idea either, probably seagate or toshiba or someone... replace it with your own SSD and turn it into a 14" powerhouse :p

Again, this might be better if you go into the Vaio CA Owner's thread (found in the sub-forum at the top of the general Sony forum)

Unfortunately the Z series is out of my range but the S series is interesting but I either have to comprimise either screen resolution or graphics cards - either way it doesnt quite seem worth it.

Just noticed the 6 thing :D I thought about going in there but I didnt want to crash their party and thought it may be more against the rules then posting here.

Thats a gould thought on the harddrive, I guess you could even remove the CD-drive and put another HDD in there. But I presume that would void the warranty?
