I recently purchased Sony Vaio Y-Series through sonystyle.com, using my newly authorized credit card. It's been about 3 days since the purchase, but on my sonystyle account, the payment detail is still as following:

    ----------------------
    Credit & Financing:
    [My card number here]
    ----------------------
    Paid:
    $0.00

    Open Balance:
    $817.95
    ----------------------

Also on my bank account, my purchase is still shown as a "pending transaction." Is there something wrong here, or do I need to just wait until the pending transaction gets resolved? I haven't had any problems using my credit card at retailers after this purchase.

Sony won't charge the card until they ship the computer. That being said, have you made any purchases larger than this? Sometimes banks or credit card companies will not allow a large purchase to go through unless you call and let them know (sometimes you only have to do this for one purchase). You might call and check with SonyStyle just to be sure everything is kosher. But very likely your order just hasn't been built/shipped yet, so they haven't charged you yet.

I haven't made any purchases larger than the new laptop. The order status just has changed to "Your laptop is being built," so I guess I was just being paranoid. I will make a call to the bank tomorrow just in case.

That's interesting how they don't charge until the laptop is built. I don't think I have seen any other manufacturers doing that before.
